Fethiyespor got their new season underway with a 2-1 defeat, at Sanlifurfa last night.
After another busy summer in the transfer market with 15 new players brought in and 14 departing, Fethiye lined up with 4 players making their debuts with 5 more new boys on the bench. It was new signing Halil Peksen, a 25 year old right winger who gave Fethiye the perfect start, scoring after 3 mins. Fethiye held onto their lead until half time but the hosts equalised in the 46th minute and got a 2nd goal 8 mins later to condemn  Fethiye to defeat.
Fethiye play their first home game on Saturday evening when they entertain Konya Selcukspor. Konya managed a 1-1 draw yesterday but they have won 1-0 and 2-0 on their last 2 visits to Fethiye over the last 2 seasons.

Fethiyespor threw away 2 points as they were held to a 2-2 draw in their first home game of the season. Fethiye started with 5 of their new summer signings and a further 4 on the bench and had the better of a goaless first half.. The best chances fell to Metin Sevinc with a long range shot going just over the bar and forward Zorlu volleying over when he should have done better.
Half time substitute  Enes Baykan provided  some attacking  intent and Fethiye took the lead on 51 mins with centre back Fahri Akyol stabbing home following  a free kick. Sub Baykan added a 2nd goal 4 mins later and Fethiye looked to be cruising  to victory.
However after a couple of smart stops from new keeper Mert Ozyigit the visitors from Konya got a goal back on 81 mins.On 89 mins Fethiye lost defender Yigit Yoney to a red card for handball on the line and Konya were awarded a penalty. Mert endeared himself to the home fans pulling off a fine save to his right. 5 mins of extra time went up on the board but after 2 of them Fethiye were caught upfield by a storming 30 yard run from Kader who scored his and his teams second.
Fethiye are 12th in the league after that draw and are away in Istanbul  next weekend  to face Karagumruk. Although  Fethiye lost there 2-1 last season that is their only defeat in 6 games with Fethiye winning 4 and drawing 1.

Fethiyespor have drawn a home tie in the next round of the Ziraat Cup,where they will face Sancaktepe Belediyespor who come from  Istanbul.
Sancaktepe are in the Lig 2 Red group and are managed by former Fethiye boss Ahmet Yildirim and have signed former Fethiye player Umut Sozen in the summer.
The ties are due to be played between the 25th and 27th of Sept.

Fethiyespor players get the chance to play on the big stage this afternoon as their game against Fatih Karagumruk is taking place at the 76,000 capacity Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul. This stadium will host the 2020 UEFA Champions League final.

Looks as if the players have a touch of stage-fright, Fethiye 2-0 down at half time. :(

Fethiyespor lost their game in Istanbul 3-1 yesterday. The hosts were 1-0 up after only 7 mins when former player Murat Turkkan scored, and they added a second goal after 20 mins.  New signing Ahmet Cebe pulled a goal back 5 mins into the second half but it was the hosts who went onto win, scoring a third goal in the 90th minute. Fethiye are down to 16th in the league with 1 point from 3 games.
A home game next Saturday evening when they host Darica Genclerbirligi from Kocaeli. Darica were   Lig 3 champions last season but are currently  1 of the 2 teams below Fethiye in the league. They also have a former Fethiye player in their ranks with winger Aytac Denis who spent 3 seasons with Fethiye and scoring 11 goals now playing for them.

Fethiyespor produced a very poor performance last night as they were thumped 4-0 at home by league newcomers Darica Genclerbirligi. The visitors from Kocaeli opened the scoring 8 mins before half-time. For the 2nd week running the curse of the former player came back to haunt Fethiye as Aytac Deniz who left Fethiye last summer scored in the 52nd and 57th minutes. Adem Aydin completed the rout by adding a 4th in the 66th minute. That defeat sees Fethiye move down to bottom of the league  on goal difference.
The only other team with 1 point from 4 games are next weeks opponents Tokatspor. On their last visit there in 2015 Fethiye lost 2-0. Also they have Berat Tosun playing for them who wore the number 9 shirt for Fethiyespor last season.
Before that Fethiye are in cup acction on Wednesday evening when they host Sancaktepe who top the other Lig 2 group table following a 2-0 home win yesterday.
