Mobile phone query
« on: December 28, 2016, 12:18:39 PM »
This is probably a really dim question but what I know about mobile phones you could write on the back of a stamp!!   I have a mobile phone bought in Turkey using Turkcell.   I am going to the UK for 10 days, will this phone work in the UK?    I have a UK phone but as I haven't been to the UK for 5 years I presume I would have to buy a new sim card for this.   Hopefully someone will please know the answer.

The phone should work in the U.K. but on Turkcell so your call costs would be relatively high. If your Uk phone is unlocked you can just buy a pay as you go SIM card when you are in the UK - even at the supermarket tills.

If it's locked, just buy a pay as you go SIM card for the network you used to be on with it.

Yes, the Turkcell phone will work in the UK but only if you set it up for International Calls before you leave Turkey. (It can be done from the UK but I don't want to confuse you anymore than you already are.   ;) ) However, don't forget you'll be charged International rates if you make calls, or send and receive texts in the UK.

Take your old UK phone with you and buy a cheap SIM in the UK for any calls you want to make in the UK.

Also what he ^^^^ said.  :)

Try putting your Turkcell SIM in it and see what message you get on the screen.
