Scrap vans
« on: March 23, 2014, 15:19:28 PM »
This will seem like a silly question but, does anyone know what the score is with these scrap vans that circulate around Calis ans beyond, If I was wanting to get rid of some stuff, do they pay me for it or do they just take it away for you to save you taking it somewhere to dump it ?

See told it was silly ha ha .

I think I know the answer already but don't want to look an idiot when i take the stuff out to them.

Thanks in advance.

Alan.

If you are wanting to get rid of scrap metal and get a bit of money for it you can take it down to The Sanayi in Fethiye.. It is on the same street as the Turkish bath. They weigh it in there... You could just put it by the bins and someone will be there for it before you even get back to your home.. Or there are the guys who come round.. Just hand it to them.. they wont give you any money as they will take it to the Sanayi and weigh it in themselves. It is how they make their money.

Which turkish bath are you talking about ? any other land marks ?

Thankyou so much for this info, much appreciated.

Take the road from Calis to the Otogar, go just past the Otogar and turn left immediately before the canal. Follow this road keeping the canal on your right and you'll find the Kaya Hamam about 300 yards along on your left. There are a couple of scrapyards just past it. They take almost anything metalbased.

During our "sojourn", (6 years), in the area, if we wanted to get rid of ANYTHING, plastic, metal, cardboard, whatever, we just laid it tidily outside our gate at the bottom of the driveway. The chappies would walk up the driveway, ask us if it was rubbish, ( Bu çöp? ), and even on occasion offered us money for it !!   ;D
