Perhaps after a few Efes's it tastes better but not my cup of tea after trying the main brand ciders in the UK.Glad to hear proper Cider is getting on the shelves here, I prefer Cider to beer but choice here is so minimal.
All I can say is I had a bottle at The Rose restaurant, no idea of make or model but Mutlu said it was local (as in Turkish not imported) Cider & I thought it was most yummy. It was my 1st drink of the night so it wasn't tainted by Efes or tea!

I would agree with corbindallas in that the local Turkish cider Sevillen is not nice and is not good reading on the label :-\,

Maybe that's why I like it, I have a sweet tooth for Cider, Kopparberg Pear being my favourite.

I had a bottle of Strongbow in a seafront bar the other day. Just as a change from Efes.
Very refreshing, but at 6.50 Tl for a 275ml bottle, by my reckoning about £5.10 a Pint, not something I will be doing very often!

And usually it is only the price of Efes that I complain about!:D[V

OK, there appears to be a good few arguments and misconceptions about Cider on this topic.:-\

You cannot get a pear cider, there is no such thing. No matter what the label calls it, it is a Perry.

Oh, and for those who think and state Bulmers is "pop" - who on earth do you think makes Strongbow? ( answer - Bulmers )[:(!]

Turkish cider is not made in the traditional "British" cider way. It is generally made from filtered and refined Apple juice. This is then  chaptalized and then fermented. The addition of sugar before fermentation serves only to increase the final alcohol content, but does nothing to increase the depth of flavour: rather, it diminishes it. A Lot!

I suppose in the end it is very much "Each to his own taste"  8)

I guess it is the "taste" thing which is the main difference between the brands.

Customers tastes do vary, and some prefer the lighter and less sharp taste of the original Bulmers to that of Strongbow. When Strongbow was introduced in 1962 it was the forerunner of the trend towards the higher gravity Ciders: culminating in those ridiculous drinks Diamond White and White lightning, both masquerading as "Cider"

Just how these two managed to lose nearly all their "Cider" flavour in the manufacturing process is beyond me. Undoubtedly they managed to increase the alcohol content to almost ludicrous levels.

Strongbow strength varies according to which country you are in. Bottled Strongbow
UK strength is normally 5.3%
Strangely, Draught Strongbow sold in the UK in normally 4.5%
I don't know the definition of "Pop", but would certainly not apply it to a bottled cider containing 4.5% alcohol - which is almost exactly the strength of the original UK bottled Bulmers! :) :) :)
