I did try to search for this on previous posts but couldn't find anything.
When we start to come to Fethiye for 6 months at a time - I have to take one tablet each morning for digestive problems - is it possible to buy this from the local chemists and if anyone has bought it can you tell me how much it costs?

Ps I will also try to use the Manuka Honey to ween myself off these capsules before we go :)

The name that it's sold under here is Lansor (Lansorprazole). You can buy in it most chemists and it's currently priced at 26.44 TL for 30 capsules.

Lansorprozole is the same as the uk I take it here and you can buy it over the counter at any chemist over there. are you in gunlukbasi Ian you can get it there

I also take Omeprazole and bought it at ot the ADA pharmacy next to the big hospital regularly with no problems at all whilst we lived there. Just take an old packet with you so they can check the name on their computer.

I also take Omeprazole. It is a PPI (protein pump inhibitor) and suppresses the production of acid to prevent reflux, mainly for people with hiatus hernias.
Be careful as Omeprazole and Lansorprazole are not exactly the same. When first diagnosed my doc tried me on both of these plus another, ???prazole as some can have side effects.
It's so long ago that I can't remember what the side effects were but I settled on Omeprazole and remain on it.

Ian, Prosek 20mg is the same as Omeprazole, its the Turkish equivelent...its exactly the same but cheaper....ive been on it here in Turkey for 14 months and had no problems...i was put on Omeprazole by my doctor in UK some 10 years ago, but i dont have a hiatus hernia, but do have chronic pancreatitus

I was wondering how you were getting on with the Manuka Honey - active 10+ is still available in Sainsburys at £5.99. Didn't you try it properly?
I've been off the Omeprazole ever since I posted about my miracle honey cure - seems like yesrs ago now & haven't had ANY problems since. IF I start feeling any acidity just a day or 2 of Manuka knocks it on the head. The last jar I bought must have been a good 3-4 months ago.
Considering how bad I was even when taking the Omeprazole (which just masks the symptoms & doesn't cure it) I'm SO pleased that I found Manuka.
It also works on wounds/ulcers & MRSA - better than prescribed medications.

Another alternative to Omeprazole is Inziazole, it's cheaper but that's because it isn't taken by mouth.

Linda - I have to admit I tried it for a month and there was an improvement but then for some reason or other we didn't have any in (that is purely the wife's department here up North so I naturally didn't interfere with due process) and it just got left off the shopping list and then forgotten all together!
Ps I think things started to go down hill after the wedding personally :D)
I will try it again before we go next year for our first 6-month stint - but if not it is comforting to know the standby is available.
I have not heard of Keith's suggestion but I have a feeling it was the same area he felt the pain when the server went down :D

i to have been on omeprazole for ages
the doc recently changed nexium esomeprazole
they seem to work a lot better for me

Keith, I think the majority of users have it to prevent acid reflux caused by hiatus hernias. It reduces the production of stomach acids and can lead to other gastric problems.

ken why dont you get 4 months supply from doctor to save some money
what sort of symptoms does this acid give you i keep getting pains at bottom of my rib cage below heart ,they said it could be acid but never gave anything for it i wonder if the honey might help.

The maximum that can be prescribed and dispensed at any one time is 2 months supply without prior agreement of the Authorities. My doctor gets round this by letting me put in a number of repeat prescriptions of 2 months supply over a short period of time to cover the period that I have told him I will be away. :)

Just like to say that Omeprazole & Lansoprazole are not the same medicine. They are both for stomach acid problems but I was on the former & was switched to the latter as my GP thought it would be more suitable for me.
I would think that both should be available but I'm just concerned that people don't get the idea that they are the same drug.

Try an antacid first Lance ,if that helps go on to the Munauka Honey.

Chuck those damned masking drugs in the bin for good after trying Manuka.
NO side effects, it's a CURE not a mask & in 90%+ of cases it works - it CURES you!
Linda - who spent 10yrs working for a major pharmaceutical & has horror stories to tell by galore. I used to see a great number of the customer complaints with bad side effects etc. I had to retest the drugs involved - I would NOT put my name on the test sheets unless they allowed me to put MY results on - they often wouldn't! The pet Chemist somehow always managed to get all within specs - after spending hours on the calculators ! GRRRRRRRRRRRR
The pharmaceuticals don't get it right all the time!

Have to agree Linda. I was told that Tramadol was NOT addictive. Three years later they admit it is and even have it on the side effects.
Unfortunately I can't find anything else to deal with my symptoms.

Lance, I do not need more than my normal month supply :). It was Ian who posted the question about supplies in Turkey. As for your pains I suggest you see your doctor rather than try to get a "forum diagnosis" although your pains sound familiar :-\.
Linda the Manuca did not work for me although I may not have given it long enough.

Manuka - isn't a 'quick cure'. It HAS to be taken regularly for 3 months or so to kill all the H Pylori. IF H Pylori is the cause - in over 90% of cases, it is, then it WILL cure the problem NOT just mask it & leave you taking a drug that possibly has long-term side effects for the rest of your days.

Maybe one of the pharmacies might get some in for you. It should be Active 10+ UMF or better (the better ones can cost though & Active 10+ is sufficient for most problems - acid reflux, ulcers, wounds, MRSA etc. The 'in the know' pharmacies here can & do get it in. You can order directly from New Zealand BUT I know the post isn't too great especially it seems for expats. The trouble is that you'll be getting through around a dozen or so jars in the 3 months you need to take it. £70-£80 from Sainsburys to CURE the problem isn't excessive + we can just pop in for another jar whenever we need it. Maybe speaking to a friendly pharmacist & doing some research on prices from New Zealand might be the key?

hi, i was on these omeprazole tablets and they did no good, i suffered for a long time with my stomach, in the end i was told i had a leaky gut and advised to use natural products, so i take a digestaid and a probioitic, six month later my leaky gut has healed and i am well, but still take the natural aids

As for your pains I suggest you see your doctor rather than try to get a "forum diagnosis" although your pains sound familiar .
I posted the link from the NHS site so he could see the symptoms and consult doctor if required. I in no way intended to "diagnose"
However it doesn't sound like his doctor is looking into it if he went with pain and was told it "might be" acid.

Heather, that NHS link explains all the reasons but does not refer to any symptoms. I was simply advising Lance to see his doc if he has any gastric problems.

If you look at the menu at the side it takes you from symptoms, treatment through to Prevention.

Not wanting to disagree with anyone but i was told the maximum is three months for drugs ,seems like it varies i always get four months supply when coming over ,three months i can order on line ,four months i have to phone doctor no probs.can you buy manuka honey in turkey.[?]

I don't think youcan email yet from here - still a glitch..
I did another topic called something like 'Manuka for acid reflux' a couple or so years ago - that might answer many questions - if not ask on here, if it's not too personal. :-\:D
