Stray Dogs A Problem
« on: August 28, 2012, 05:41:15 AM »
There are now quite a few stray dogs on the streets of Uzumlu, hanging around PO Petrol Station, Orka Houses, early this morning there was a hugh fight and gun shots, plus they are now a mence if you are trying to take your own dog for a walk, plus they are barking and howling at night and setting other owned dogs off, one is a large kangal, couple of terrier type dogs and other mixed breeds, certainly not helped by holiday makers feeding them! We have told them to go and play in another street but they are not taking any notice!!

Anyway I understand that now and again stray dogs are be collected in the dog catcher van, but is there anywhere to request this?

Thanks :o

Here's a POINTER. If you want a quiet night, do not live near a building PLOTT.
'cos that is where the Yapi dogs will be ;D

I saw a young goat near the petrol station last night, I think it may have been Billy the kid ;D

Wild Boar Hickock now involved!! came charging out of the forest last night to confront the assembled pack of mangy mutts, but retreated in the face of a barrage of canine noise to rival the OK Corral on a friday night. not to be bested the dogs continued the barrage all night so not much sleep for us, so hoping they take the night off or clear off somewhere else tonight.
More seriously we've been informed by a reliable source that at least some of the "strays" are actually owned by non-Turkish residents who thoughtfully turn their "pets" out for the night. If true then they should hang their heads in shame.
Has there been any feedback from the shelter ref. rounding them up? (the dogs not their owners, although......). Also has the Zabita any responsibility in this? If so should we organise a chat with Rashid on Monday?

Apparently the Zabita have promised to Springer into action. Rashid will be busy on Monday but his Deputy-Dawg, Al Satian, will be available to see you.  ;D
