Drummer
« on: July 09, 2013, 07:08:53 AM »
There was a chap drumming his way around the village at around 3 am this morning.  I got the fright of my life when he walked past our place - is it something to do with Ramadan?

Yes. You can look forward to that for the next few weeks assuming he takes the same route.

Oh, that's OK - I'll get used to it and just snooze on.  Just gave me a massive fright as not a sound I'm used to hearing!

All part of the rich tapestry of life in Turkey.
If you happen to be in Fethiye in the evenings for the next month you will hear Cannons being fired off all over the town at the end of each days fasting.
Be warned!!  Drive there at your own risk as there are a lot of hungry thirsty drivers who are just gasping for a smoke and don't care who they drive over on their way home to eat

I love being in a Turkish restaurant when the cannon goes off!
