Forecasting
« on: June 17, 2012, 12:28:21 PM »
What with the present inclement weather, I thought it would be a good idea to see which site is the most accurate over the next few days.

This might prove useful to members on which site to look at for future visits.

Here are two, BBC and Accuweather. Perhaps if you have a favourite you could post it's forecast for comparison.

H as you know I am very interested in weather - and spent a lot of time researching good forecast sites - what I have found is that some are better than others dependant on where the forecast is for. Accuweather tends to be a good all round one - but like most it simply takes its info from a third party.
If you have some specific sport or passtime near where you want the forecast for then look at specific ones for that, back in UK being in a fishing port was easy as they tend to get a good choice of sites, now in Fethiye I use
 http://www.windguru.cz/int/index.php?sc=37735
as its used by paragliders and wind surfers etc.
as a back up I use
http://www.weather-forecast.com/locations/Fethiye/forecasts/latest
this one is a bit like accuweather.

One thing for sure any more than 4 days ahead is your lot for forward planning if there are any hills or mountains surrounding you.

Thanks for that Jim.

Post such as "I'm coming over in 3 weeks - can you tell me what the weather is going to be like" never cease to amaze me. Who could have predicted the present temperatures on the first of June.

I understand that there has been thunder and lightning and torrential rain today and that does not appear to have been forecast on any of the sites mentioned.

I have found this one to be very good indeed , http://www.mgm.gov.tr/en-US/forecast-cities.aspx?m=FETHIYE. I also check BBC & Accu weather and out of the 3 would confidently say it's the most accurate.
