if you think back lissa it was just over 500 lira for a 4 year residency so 1000 lira for a 1 year residency imo IS expensive.

Unless its changed recently you'll pay the equivalent of $80 (or $85?) in lira plus 55tl for your card.  300tl give or take depending on the exchange rate for one year.

Assuming you hold a U.K. passport: $30 for the first month and $5 per month, for the remaining months - add on your card fee of 55tl and it works out around 293tl at today's rates.

Obviously, if your Turkish isn't sufficient to cope with the process then you will need a translator, or a friend who speaks Turkish.

Those figures are as of last month in Istanbul, so a bit cheaper than my guesstimate of 300tl.

Don't forget compulsory health insurance, whether you need it or not you have to have it. this added an extra 2000tl to my bill.

You're right, but the costs of that are pretty variable according to age, sex and medical history.  I know of folks getting acceptable (as in proper) policies for round about the 1,000tl mark but others paying over 3,000tl.

Yellali have an online calculator for Groupama, who are not the cheapest by any stretch, but it'll give folks a benchmark when shopping around.

another point which may or not be relevant if you have renewed your passport within your residency period then you HAVE to go to mugla which has happened to us and adds to the cost.

Sorry, just replying to a post that said the cost was 1000 lira. JohnF has posted the true costs of this
Permit, and as has been said, insurance costs are dependent on age so not possible so give a definitive answer here. Still stand by my original comment that is is possibily still cheaper than for Turks to go to the UK. If they can get a visa.

Two year multi entry visa to the UK is about $500 for a Turk.  No one I know has been refused a visa, in fact a few have ten year visas for visiting the UK - $1150 at today's prices.

A bit more expensive, but not by a huge margin
