Title: Is Esnaf still working with SGK?
Post by: Icaru on January 03, 2016, 22:00:37 PM
On January 1 TodaysZaman has an article saying that 21 hospitals in Turkey have had their SGK contracts cancelled.  Does anyone know if Esnaf still honors SGK?

As far as I'm aware, SGK premiums are linked to the minimum wage and as this was increased by around 30% at the turn of the year the SGK premiums rose by a similar amount.  Unless there is another major increase in the minimum wage, the June 2016 increase should be in the region of 4%.

this is true john f but it is some hike for quite a few ex pats living here who don't have any source of income. as far as I am aware this applies to turks as well especially to those hiring bar staff etc for the coming season as they will have to foot the bill. not very pleasant for up and coming tourism if any at all.

If someone doesn't have any source of income how can they afford SGK in the first place?

Currently works out at £88pm for a couple, not exactly a fortune for pretty comprehensive health insurance.

by my calculations that works out at over £1000 per year. that is some health insurance imo.

As a point of order, that makes it £500 (per person).

I'd call that very reasonable?

395tl per person. So £1000 each. Still reasonable for peace of mind.

Sounds good but it doesn't cover problems, you have before you joined,
also a lot of people don't like the State Hospital so they have to pay on top
of their SGk at  the Esnaf exc. but you takes your choice,

No.  If married and spouse eligible it's 395tl per couple.  Young, free and single get a raw deal however, no discount and then yes, it becomes 395tl for one.

Or 6.6tl a day each. To put it into ex pat terminology less than an Efes  ;)

Update
Asked the question the other day as the eye clinic seemed empty.

Each department has a quota of SGK patents, when the quota is finished then they can take people with no insurance. Think its a government condition to be a private hospital.

So in theory you could be turned away /
