The snap election is what he has been working towards since the shock of the AKP losing power. Surely you'd think there is now enough opposition to Reg - both in and out of the Turkish parliament - that they could get together on a simple platform of reducing the power of Reg or better still getting him out, and putting in place some changes to make the electoral system more just. Unfortunately no, either because the Turkish political parties politics are based on race and hate, or they fear losing political influence in their own sphere, just generally corrupt, or will not change their party's views on such things as religion. And so Reg plays them like a well worn fiddle, divide them and rule them ..... that's the sad thing, that the others let it happen. Not that the abuses of power by Reg and his AKP cronies are allowed to go unchecked.
Hopefully the Turkish people and the religious Kurds - traditional supperters of the AKP - have started to see things differently from the political class in Turkey, and will work and vote accordingly to keep Reg and the AKP away from power .... sadly I do not think so.
