Explosion at Sabiha Gökçen Airport
« on: December 23, 2015, 10:05:59 AM »
Most of the media are reporting an explosion inside a Pegasus 737 at Sabiha Gökçen early this morning.  So far at least, there hasn't been the usual finger pointing by the authorities as to the cause and potential perpetrators.

It crossed my mind though, that while a poor cleaner lost her life (according to HDN), if it was a bomb then close to 200 folks have had a lucky escape.

Probably.

I've never had an issue with increased security at airports - what I do have an issue with is how it's implemented.  You increase security, you have to increase the numbers of security staff - if you don't then all it does is cause mayhem.  Some of the queues at Atatürk can be horrendous, especially at passport control - and when threat levels increase it becomes even worse.
