Generous donation

A lovely Turkish lady, Unsal Cetin, came into the 3C'c charity shop this morning and handed us a donation of 200 pounds sterling (620TL at todays exchange rate).  She said that it was her Kurban Bayram money and rather than spending it on sacrificing an animal and having the family meal,  she wanted to donate it to us to help the children.  It was a really lovely and generous gesture and both Liz and I were filling up.  There are some really kind people out there and it is really nice to know that the work our charity is doing is getting across to the general Turkish public and not just those that we are helping.

What a lovely gesture and I agree, so nice that it came from a Turkish person.  It must have meant a lot to give up their Bayram Meal.. Great news once again.

Of course that is a really fantastic gesture for the charity, but I'm also delighted that an animal didnt get sacrificed. I know its a Turkish tradition, I accept that, really I do, but I can't help but find it abhorrent.

This just goes to demonstrate that the ordinary Turkish person realises exactly what 3 C's is all about, £200 will go a heck of a long way in helping the kids who are less fortunate. Well done, madam.

It does go to show that all your hard work it getting noticed by Local people, who obviously really appreciate what you do for the local community.

Unsal Cetin must be an angel in disguise as that sort of money, to a Turkish person, is not small change. People like her make all the efforts of the committee worth while and to those who think that all the Turks are on the make, take notice, they are not all tarred with the same brush.
