Where to keep a boat ?
« on: August 11, 2007, 11:31:24 AM »
Hi all,

when our place is eventually finished next year we plan to get a small day boat - say 15-18 feet.

So can anyone suggest the nearest placed to Calis Beach (Surf club end) where it may be possible to store a boat and get it launched ?

Thanks

Ian

There are plenty of places that you can leave the boat for free, but it is at your risk, we have been adviced not to do leave it. We have made enquiries to the Marina, safer and the insurance will then be valid.  it is cheaper to leave for the year than quarterly, We hope to have ours moored this month.

At the moment it is a garden ornament!

Loz,
which marina are you referring to ?
(sorry if this is a daft question - not spent much time in Calis yet so don't know the area too well)

Also, can you advise on approximate cost ?

Thanks

Ian

Ian email sent.

Scunner guess what, I am on the look out again for a towbar to the water!!

We had the estate car, man enough for the job, so went to have the towbar fitted, easy? you have to be joking!!!

It was like a comedy show.
Sharp intake of breath...
"ummm, you will need to have a car document to give permission to have towball fitted, it has to be stamped in the car documents, this will cost approx 300TL" oh and the 300Tl on top to register the damn thing! 600Tl so far plus still the notary and whoever else wants too take part!

The heat has got to me this last month and my temper and patience is extremely thin. You really don't want to know what I ranted! remember the song by Cher "Gypsies tramps and thieves"?

Why this much, and what will happen if we get a "Black market one fitted"?

"The Police/Gendarme will stop you and fine or take the car on the spot"

"$od'em get a black one fitted"  we did and cost 80TL

Gordon took the car to the work shop, got the dolmus home, and guess what? we got a phone call asking "is the car still for sale, we would like to buy it"!!!!

so we had the towball for 3 days, the person buying the car did not want the towbar! so we had to have it removed!

Now we have a new car "Kermit" definitely not man enough for the boat, hence the Marina and mooring option.

ANYONE OUT THERE WANT TO BUY A TOWBAR FOR FIAT PALIO WEEKEND?

 ;)
