Six friends on holiday decided to go to Oludeniz for the day and thought the fares were reasonable but on going to the lagoon area were charged 4 lira each to get in and 9 lira each for a sunbed and shade.Bit over the top even Iztusu beach Dalyan dont charge that much They charge 3 lira for sunbed and shade.
-
if they had gone to Sugar Beach at the back of the lagoon it's free to enter, free seating as long as you are eating or drinking there, good food and entertainment most days and evenings.
Andy 8) ;)
-
we went to one of the little beaches a few years ago, cant remember what its called but know it when i see it, and they tried to charge us an extortionate amount for sunbeds and shade. we wouldn't have minded but our towels were on the sand and no where near a brolly!!
We argued the point, refusing to pay and they threatened to fetch the jandarma... not a nice experience but needless to say the Jandarma never came anyway.
-
we went to oldeniz a month ago we paid 3 lire each to get in and 6 lire each for a sunbed there was 7 of us was shocked as it was very stoney was a big let down wouldnt go there again next day we went to billys beach paid 6 lire a sunbed even though we had lunch and drinks but it was good as it was sandy better than the main lagoon beach
-
All I can say is, if you pay those prices then you have more money than sense.

-

-
We want to go to Olu Deniz for a day when we come out but there is no way am I paying those prices :o
Looks like it's Sugar Beach for us:D
Is that the name of the bar tinkerman[?]
-
yes Sugar Beach is the place to be for a nice day out
You may have to pay for the sunbeds but loads of areas with seating that are free all day long.

Why not ? 64 isn`t too old.
If everybody did they would soon drop the price of hiring a sunbed.

tinkerman you said you didnt have to pay now you saying you have to pay for sunbeds and crabbit you have to pay for sun beds not mater how old you are i live in marmaris we dont pay for sunbeds but i go to olduniz on my hols if they say you pay you pay or sit on the sand anyway what ever not really bothered if you are on hols who cares only you enjoy sitting in the sand cos you wont pay so you say glad i wont be on hols with you
-
. ,
Can you use one of those two now and again, I'm out of breath just reading it :D
-
I said free seating, that is in the sun or in the covered areas as long as you are eating or drinking there, in Olu Deniz you do not need to lay on a sunbed all day to enjoy yourself.
The seating is chairs, benches or bean bags.
I wouldn't lay on a four poster bed if it were free on Marmaris Beach:D
-
Thanks Tinx: :)
Christygee Tinx said in his first post about this that,
if they had gone to Sugar Beach at the back of the lagoon it's free to enter, free seating as long as you are eating or drinking there, good food and entertainment most days and evenings.
In his 2nd post answering my question he said,
"You may have to pay for the sunbeds but loads of areas with seating that are free all day long."
That seems clear enough for me, you don't have to pay if you don't mind sitting but if you want a sunbed you might have to pay.
There is no need to have a go at him, or crabbit, for having a bit of fun!
Take a chill pill and calm down ;)
-
Just for the record, I'm with Crabbit on not paying those prices either :o We have a budget and need to make our money stretch but it's better to have a holiday on a budget, than NOT have a holiday ;)
-
52 lira for a family of 4 to "get in" and sit on 4 rancid dirty sunbeds. I'll sit on free seating and spend 52 lira on food & drinks I think.
-
Sounds like another rip off,no credit crunch in turkey then?
-
I loved the Sugar Beach Club!
Admittedly I didn't pay for anything but all we did was laze around in the bean bags and cushions and read.
Sooooo relaxing
And the dance troupe there were BRILLIANT. I thought Iwas flexible until I saw them lol.
Well worth a visit
-
Olu beach charge 18 TL for 2 sunbeds and a shade, Calis is 10 1/2 TL, as reported Sugar Beach 15 TL for same.
-
Nice one !

whats that suposse to mean get a life
-
You British in Marmaris sure are different
You are not bothered by the price of sunbeds and earlier you were "shocked" by the price of sunbeds.
-
no im
shocked that u have to pay when you are there all day eating and drinking i can understand if you bring your own stuff, the price seems to bother use more than me cos you keep saying you wouldnt pay well u dont pay you dont get a bed
your choice
-
Everything that shocks me bothers me, yet not everything that bothers me shocks me. What are you on, coming on here telling people to get a life and not using any commas or full stops.
To remind you...
1) YOU stated you were "shocked" at the prices of sunbeds at Olu Deniz
2) If it's that bad stay in Marmaris, we all know how relaxing it is there
3) You may find you fit in better at a Marmaris forum
-
also i didnt say i was shocked at the price of the beds i was shocked the lagoon beach was stoney and would go there again cos off the beach
-
yes take me off this forum its ok for people to slag me but you dont like it back rename this forum scunner and mates forum
-
I might just
You didn't say you were shocked that the beach was stoney, you said you were shocked at the cost of sunbeds as the beach was stoney - stop trying to wriggle :D
Thank God there is Marmaris for people like you. Coming over here to whinge about the prices of sunbeds on the most photographed beach in Turkey. Then you aren't bothered at all! I'm not bothered about it, that's why I've never bothered to post about it either. Maybe sunbeds are cheaper in Marmaris? Who cares?
Pay it, don't pay it, that's the way life is.
-
what do you mean come over here i live in turkey you dont i have my opinions which you dont seem to like how dare you insult me and where i live i will not be engaging in this topic anymore to be insulted
-
How do you feel insulted?
Surely you have had a lot worse from other places?
There are as many opinions as there are people and none of them are wrong, they are opinions.

You don't have to be engaging in the topic to be insulted here :D
Nobody insulted you, some disagreed with you. Mainly in the bit before you disagreed with yourself

Which day was it Crabbs?
Do'nt say i've missed it.
PS.What's an insult? :)
-
An insult is best described as what they say to you in Marmaris, in front of your wife and kids, when you politely decline their offer for you to eat in their restaurant.

We have just booked again to go to Olu next year 2010 because we really enjoyed our stay here this year. We went to the free beach and found it great. We knew others were charging to go on their beach areas and to be honest they were no better than the free one we used. There is a choice as far as I can see.Go to the free ones or pay to go to the other ones. Why complain after you have payed when you had the choice to pay or not to pay.Next year we will still use the free one and still go to Hisonaru which is free and also Calis which is also free.
-
Sugar Beach is fab and everything said is true - the beers are expensive but we have paid the price no problem just to enjoy the music, service, bean bags, seating area, decor and most of all AMBIENCE of the place
I loved it therefore I will return 8) Thats the general idea ! Glad I don't live in Marmaris :D

We paid 40 lira for a day at the pool at the princess hotel but got fed up and went for a yearly pass somewhere else.
7 lira is a bargain like everything else down there.

The lagoon is a conservation area and that is why there is an entrance fee - to pay for the work to preserve it. This is the same for any of the historical or conservation areas in Turkey.
The public beach was contracted out by the previous Mayor (about 6 years ago) his parting shot, resulting in a huge loss of income to the local council. This may be why the cost of renting a bed and brolly in the lagoon is high.
No one has the right to collect money from anyone on either beach that is not using a sun bed or brolly and you are within your right to say no to demands for money if you decide to sit on the sand with your towel.
-
I was on Oludeniz beach with my kids one day in October, and only planned on going for a quick swim. We never use beds (just imagine what goes on on them after hours) but did set up an umbrella. I had no small change on me on this particular day, so i just told the guy (in Turkish) that unfortunately I had no money on me. Then he just walked off! So I came out the winner having only paid for around 99 out of 100 days worth of umbrella usage throughout the season!! hang on a minute :(
-
you pay what you get for....it is 5 ot 6 lira for sunbed not 9....and about 2.20 pounds is not expensive for all day sunbed... if no body can afford that amount what is the point of goin on holidasy. there is not a thing is free in this world...

Exactly the kind of attitude that is forcing up prices and making people consider other areas. Everybody is not rich just because they come on holiday. People have to save hard all year for a 1 or 2 week holiday and have to budget their spending. A family of 4 or 5 enjoying the beach can spend a lot of money just on beds and brollies. Oludeniz is more expensive for lots of things than other areas of Turkey. Food, drinks.......even the dolmus must be the most expensive in Turkey.
It seems that the solution to a poor season is not to make the place more attractive by making it better value but by putting prices up to those that do go.
-
Well said Lucinda.I only go to the beach for paragliding or fishing in friends boats.Way too expensive now.Better value elsewhere.
