Title: Buying a car - NO residency requ for 2nd-hand cars

We have just sold our second-hand car, using Notary 5, above and next to Genpa, Fethiye, Ataturk Caddesi. At first, the staff, and a woman on the phone they called, insisted we all needed residency and the residency Kimlik number. I asked if they would check this out, as lawyers on this Forum had affirmed that no residency was required to buy a car in Turkey. So they called the Traffic Police, who confirmed that NO residency is required for a foreigner to buy a second-hand car - only a new one! So here we have it from the police...insist on staff calling them, from other Notaries, if you are refused, in future. I hope this settles the debate once and for all... :-):D

Might work in Fethiye but not here in Istanbul.
