Title: The user profile service failed the logon

Got this error message on my PC :(.

Any ideas on how to repair.

Yes, reconfigure your box and adjust your toggle-floggle to receive open rummage requests.

my sister had this problem on here PC a few weeks back and unfortunately this is quite complicated to fix.

Take a look at this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947215

You first need to log in to Windows so hopefully you have another user name (an Admin account) that you can use.

If not, its still possible but more complicated, involving booting in safe mode etc.

You know when we boot in safe mode Ian, do we have to be wearing safety boots or are regular 10-hole Doc Martens OK? Also, should we be wearing the rest of our PSE i.e. Hi-Viz vest, safety glasses and headgear ?

Very wise H - editing the registry is not for the faint hearted.

FYI, it took around an hour to talk my sister through this on the phone so should be less than that to fix it in the shop.

And for KKOB, the only PPE you need is knee pads - you'll spend a lot of time on your knees praying its going to work.

Emailed the shop last night and will probably take it in tomorrow.

Sounds like a good guy in the shop  :).
