Title: Nuisance Call
Post by: Colwyn on May 22, 2015, 13:12:52 PM
I just had one of those calls. Someone with an Indian accent so thick you could cut it said. "Hello. My name is Jack I am calling from UK Internet Services, How are you today?". Of course I couldn't resist it. I said "I'm all right, Jack" and put the phone down.

We never get those calls now.  We bought a set of 3 phones in Tesco.  So, you put in all your friends names and numbers, they will then get straight through when they call, also any callers along the way which you want to add you can do.  Any numer not recognised is an "announced call"  so you have to press No.1 to allow it, or you can put it straight to voice mail.  Any of the well known phone numbers including those from abroad who call to sell things are not put through at all.  Any new sellers soon ring off when they hear they are to be announced.
Love this phone.  We now get peace from nuisence calls..   :D

I had a call from "Microsoft". One of those sub-continental accents . Before he could finish off saying that he "knew " that I had a problem with this operating system and having had these calls before I, in extreme frustration, let fly with a whole host of expletives ending up with a good impression of the phone crashing down. Since thern, no more calls from them - Bliss.

When we did get the calls, I was never rude tp the people calling, particularly the ones in the U.K.  I think a lot of these people are workng for a living and perhaps this is the only job they could find.  At least they are not scrounging from the State.  Cold callng is not a nice job and I don't think anyone would do it out of the love for the job.   So be polite and not rude, please.

When someone calls me to say they have been monitoring my laptop for the last two weeks and I have picked up a virus. And then go on say that if I pay £99 over the phone they can fix the problem online. Then that is fraud; a criminal activity. And the criminal who phones me knows that very well.
