I have just read a post on Facebook by inspector stating the tax for the tenants of long term rentals is due..not something that I'm aware of.

Its time to pay rental income, please don't forget to pay tax till the end of 27th March.
Here attached the pdf file giving detailed info about rental income.
Rental income tax need to be paid by whom renting their house for Long term.
This info is not for short term, short term is recognized as business and have completely different registration process
Anyone???
Thanks

Surely this is aimed at the owner, not the tenant, Bernie.

I don't know, I have never heard of it before. The wording isn't clear who pays it. Tenant or Landlord. I was aware of the registration of short term visitors with police, I thought that was for tax purposes. This isn't something I'm clear on.
Thanks for responses.

I think that the Inspector meant “renting out” their property, not “renting “ as in paying rent to live there!

"Rental income tax" is the important phrase Bernie. You aren't getting income from the rental, your landlord is.

I just wanted to clarify what the situation was. I had never heard of landlords paying tax on rental income before now. Although on reflection, I suppose they must. Any ideas how much it would be. If this would apply to any nationality renting out their property long term in Turkey or just Turkish nationals.

I don't think they'd tax Turkish property renters but let foreigners off ;)

This will give an idea about how much tax have to be paid for long term rental incomes. This is for long term rental incomes gained in 2017 and will be paid by lanlord till end of march 2018.
First column (AYLIK KIRA) is monthly rental income and the last column (ODENECEK GELIR VERGISI) is apprx. tax to be paid for all 2017 income. Yearly rental incomes up to 3.900 TL are free of tax.

No worries. You can send by Western Union if you'd prefer :)
Your suite, sorry wing, is progressing nicely. Had to bin the infinity pool though - we kinda tested that one out while the roof was leaking and it didn't look that good. Just a shower with Sevillana floor tiles for you now. Don't stare at them for too long though, makes you feel a bit spacey...
