Title: Over 65 curfew
Post by: MarKar on July 04, 2020, 19:52:43 PM: There appears to be a lot of conflicting advise on the curfew effecting the over 65s (10am to 8pm).
It's my understanding that UK Travel operators and airlines haven't informed customers of such curfew.
If and when there is any definitive rules on this curfew effecting tourists would it be possible this post could be updated.

Post by: Steve A on July 05, 2020, 08:57:30 AM: Quite a debate on FB ,but it seems that the Turkish Govt announced that the curfew does not apply to tourists.Personally I have not seen any proof of this and the FCO page still states there is a curfew.It would be nice to know the facts.

But, according to the US State Department Information for Travellers to Turkey "Everyone over the age of 65 is subject to a curfew from 22.00 - 08.00"

Post by: lissa on July 05, 2020, 19:00:58 PM: I think the confusion has arisen because of last weekends curfews due to the students exams. . It was stated that domestic and international tourists were exempt from the curfew during last weekend, but residents weren't. All very strange! Nothing official, as far as I am aware, has been said about over 65s curfew and only being allowed out 10 - 20.00.

Post by: KKOB on July 10, 2020, 12:02:02 PM: It was officially announced yesterday under Decision Number 2020/71 by the Governor , Orhan Tavli, that foreign nationals are exempt from the curfew.

The Director of Tourism for Fethiye has just confirmed the following:

The curfew for over 65's ONLY APPLIES to those with Turkish Citizenship.

It does DOES NOT apply to:

Foreign Tourists

Foreign Residents

Foreigners with dual citizenship (i.e. UK Citizenship and Turkish Citizenship)

Business owners.

This is ONLY APPLICABLE to the Fethiye area, although we understand that other tourist areas are looking at doing the same.

There will NOT be an official announcement.

This update was given this morning, via a trusted source, directly to Fethiye Times with permission to publish the information.

No debate now this has been formally released by the Mayor and published in Fethiye times
