Title: use it or lose it.
Post by: charlste on January 04, 2021, 11:42:24 AM
I fear that after many years of informative chat that CBF will fold if members are not using it.

Good morning, charlste.
What do you fear isn't being used? If the forum, I've found that the CBF does have a fair bit of seasonality in terms of usage, but I suspect that the fine people of this forum will post and reply when they can. Personally, I log on daily but don't normally post unless there's something in particular that resonates...I'd much rather have good feedback and advice we find on CBF than some of the other fora that are repositories of off-colour, sexist or racist jokes and the general trolling between disagreeable parties.

For me, as an owner of two properties in Fethiye, I find CBF to be balanced, well-reasoned and supportive and the users have been helpful when posting a query. I do agree; however, that sometimes the "unread posts since last visit" result can be a bit slim at times.

Hope you're well and safe...Happy New Year, or shall I say, "Happy New Tier!".

I like Hornedfrog come on to the forum most days to see what has been posted and will if the need arises reply. I do think the forum is seasonal as most who are on here are based mainly in the UK. The forum is a good place to keep upto date with everything that is going on in Calis and i for one would hate to see it close.

I regularly log on, sometimes more than once a day, out of general interest.  I post on the forum occasionally.

My Dad used to tell me that I was born with two eyes, two ears and one tongue and that I should use them in that proportion.  His actual words were " look and listen and if you've nowt to say...........keep your gob shut!"

Wise advice..................on reflection perhaps I should have taken heed of his words and not sent this post.   ;D  ;D

Click Bait surely?

Nothing wrong with this great forum. May it live long and prosper!

Certainly not Clickbait.
Just an observation that its not as busy as it once was.
More people seem to use the facebook group for Calis nowadays.

Like a lot of you here I read the forum most days but don't often post.  There is a host of useful information on the forum and it is great to know that should you have a question, chances are someone here will have the answer.  I agree that it's good that there isn't the pettiness on here that there is on other forums.  Long may it last.

I too look at the forum every day but not all topics are applicable to me eg. as much as I would like to I don’t live in Calis so don’t need to know where is the best place to buy curtains. It has however been invaluable when holidaying there and I’m still learning. With things still being uncertain about holidays I think it’s only natural that it has gone quiet but cannot envisage a time when nobody contributes. At the start of the first lockdown we played quizzes everyday and they helped to brighten things up, I have posted in the past about concerts but again they just aren’t happening at the moment. When I eventually get to see Lion King I will post a review although having seen it before I already know it’s brilliant. Thank you to all posters I for one enjoy reading them all.

Agreed, TOSH TOSH...this is normally the first port of call when starting the laptop for work!   ;)

I agree, first port of call most days when starting work (just don't tell the bosses). For people like me who don't have, or want, facebook, then I'm hoping this survives

I too check in at least once a day and have no wish to be part of facebook and it's intrusive policies

Trends come and go but this Forum is user friendly and very helpful so deserves to be around for a long time.
