Another very poor England defensive performance lost us the game - again!

England's Premier League is admired around the world.  However, when itcomes to putting an England team together, well, most of the top teams are made up of foreign players.  Time we concentrated on bring on more young talent.
Liverpool are one of the teams that has more English players which is why the team was made up of them.
Shame it had to be a Liverpool non British player that knocked us out.

We didn't win many World Cups in the 70s & 80s when there were very few foreign players in the English top flight.

We scored one goal in two games and very few shots on target, that's not a defensive problem

Did we see some subtle, for a  team mate, match fix for the second goal. Gerrard missed or glanced the ball to Suarez who then scored the winner.

To Scunner, we did win one World Cup with a great team in the sixties .

Apollo that is absolutely disgusting statement and a terrible slur on one of England's greatest footballers hang you head in shame.   I think we all know Gerrard would never do such a thing.

Hart was in the correct position. 9 out of 10 stikers would have struck straight shot toward the far post. Hart had this covered. It was Balotelli's brilliance to chip it. Jagelka was expected to cover, and thats exactly what he did. Great skills from Mario.

Whatever.
Never Hart at fault, is it.

I haven't given up :-)

Let's say, conservatively, that Italy beat Costa Rica and Uruguay by 1-0 each and it is in their interest to finish top of the group. That would leave Uruguay at a -2 goal difference, putting them back on the same level as England. Costa Rica would still have a +1 goal difference.

But for every goal England then scores in England v Costa Rica, the English side's goal difference goes up while Costa Rica's goes down. If England beats Costa Rica by 2-0, that would put Costa Rica on a -1 goal difference — and England on a big fat zero and 3 teams with 3 points!!!

That would be good enough for England to squeak through to the next round in second place. (It doesn't matter how much Italy beat Uruguay by — just that they beat them).

So come on Super Mario - give it your best :-)

Which goal did you sleep through Andy, the Sturridge one or the Rooney one?  ;)
