A group of about forty FIG members recently held an end of season social evening at the invitation of Thomas the owner of the Cubana Bar in Hisaronu.
Thomas wanted to show his appreciation for all the work that FIG do in helping the children in his own country of Turkey.
A great evening was had by all with Donna providing excellent vocal entertainment and culminating with Thomas and his staff giving us a demonstration of traditional Turkish dancing.
HOWEVER - the real good news story is that Thomas had decided at the start of the season that he would organise an ongoing collection and throughout this time he raised a magnificent 6,000 Lira.
This was not promises of discount or other potential rewards but real hard cash handed over to our Treasurer.
How refreshing to find a businessman really working to support a local charity in his native country, with a promise to do try to do even better next year!
So can I suggest that if next season you fancy a drink in Hisanoru you might consider giving the Cubana Bar your custom.
They are located on the right hand side after the last roundabout as you go out to Kayakoy.
