Generally speaking, the difference in rates between the Döviz and the banks is a kuruş or two at most (one way or the other).  Unless you're changing a (very) large sum, I've don't see the point to queuing up in a bank to save the equivalent of a cup of çay.

We have noted that sometimes the Change Shops in Fethiye give just as good a rate as the Banks.
No way would I go into a Bank nowadays to change money.  The queues and hassle are far to great.
We try to avoid Banks at all costs.
Unfortunately, our Bank, the Ing have, for some reason, not paid our Standing Order for the Electric, which means it has been cut off.  We are now faced with going into the Bank next month and are dreading it.
Who wants to stand for an hour in a queue ??

Jacqui. Why not ask Ing to pay the reconnection charge as they are at fault? Good luck.

I have never waited longer than 10 minutes in Seker Bank to change money and the difference between them and Dikmen  Change office this morning was 9 Kurus per Pound. If , like many of us here,  you get your pensions paid into an English account  and draw it out in Sterling, changing at a bank gives quite a bit of difference to your sum. Worth the small wait in my opinion.

We would like to change from the Ing Bank, but cannot face the hassle it would cause.  We try to keep away from the Ing as much as possible as we hate the place and are sorry we every changed to them.
I think there would be little chance of them recompensing us in any way for our electricity being cut off.

How about the PTT to exchange money? I have no idea since I use zero/zero plastic at ATMs but I have read people recommending the rates (if not necessarily the service).
