The Davis Cup: The English mentality
« on: November 28, 2015, 18:02:10 PM »
It annoys me intensely that English sports commentators have transferred their mentality from the football and rugby fields to a tennis court in Ghent.

They carry on as though Andy Murray need only turn up to win the Davis Cup. Indeed one of them said during the doubles match today "win this and we win the Davis Cup".

Not only is that total rubbish (Goffin is ranked 16th in the world and he and Murray have only met twice before and never on an indoor clay court) it is typically disingenuous to their opponents.

I hope and believe that Andy Murray will do it but it will not be easy.

PS I am aware of the result in Paris 3 weeks ago

Well done to the whole UK team and especially Andy Murray.Playing and winning 3 games in 3 days a great achievement and as you said 'H' David Goffin was no push over. No 16 ranking this year and was unbeaten in the Davis Cup singles this year till today.
