How Was Your Hotel? 2016
« on: October 23, 2016, 15:21:44 PM »
Well we stayed at the Delta for the second October in a row and we really love it. Wonderful views, breakfast on the prom, great staff and we know the owners from way back. Really clean and modern.

It's really good value in October. It was also pretty busy given it was end of season and this year being so poor.

The only downside is that there is no pool - of course you are yards from the sea but we are not really beach people. We rarely have time for sunbathing and know plenty of pools we are welcome to use if we feel the urge.

It's definitely our fave but I think if we came in July or August we'd need a place with a pool.

But for October it's perfect.

Where did you stay?

For years if we went to olu deniz we always stayed at the blue star. This year daughter tagged along. Couldnt believe we got 2 rooms including aircon and fridge for 748 bb for all of us with Thomson. This included travel on a Thomson dreamliner plane, 20kg, extra legroom and transfers mid June. This was karbel hotel at the top of strip. Lovely clean hotel, helpful staff and entertainment. I was well impressed. Suprisingly its not noisy up there.
Unfortunately the place I, ve rented now in ovacik is self catering only tut.  :  :) ;D

Weve had quite a few one or two night night mini breaks in quite a few of the Calis hotels now and what we have realised are the older getting a little tired hotels dont do anything for us now...
Our fav is the Jiva Beach closely followed by Nevada Su both have really friendly staff great pools decent food...
we also really like the Tiriayki now Blueberry though some may found that a bit off the beaten track.
Never seen the Nevada as empty as it was this year, i often walked up and had some lunch there and used their pool,  never seemed to be more then 8 to 10 people at the pool, poor barman looked bored stiff.

Copied and edited from elsewhere.

The Oykun which is a good location, is very well run and which attracts a great deal of repeat business.

Average of age guests estimated at 85 which meant two things. 1. There were no great white sharks, turtles, aeroplanes or giant rings in the pool and 2. there were no hard bodied 25 year old males to distract the present Mrs H.

Our room was a bit dated but I understand that the Original Block has been refurbished so maybe the other Block will be done this winter.

Storage space on a par with other hotels ( bin fro general rubbish would have been good).

TV, aircon and hair drier all provided. Extra for safe £ 7.50 per week and fridge £ 15.00 per week. Also £ 15 - £ 20 to keep room on for day of departure.

Bar and food prices reasonable and a decent breakfast spread with loads of choice.

Pleasant and attentive staff.

Internet impossibly slow – connection only on balcony and in bar.

We stayed at the Oykun this time and yes, there were no hard bodied 25 year old men.  On the plus side, I was the youngest person staying there....

We stayed at the Oykun twice and there is a place in our heart for it, but we sat on our balcony many a night unable to connect to their wifi - even though we were just above the reception, easier to connect to the Meri Bar best part of half a km away :o

We stayed at the Rosary Beach in June for one week and really enjoyed it.  The room was perfect - we booked a sea view and the location was great.   We hired a safe for the week and the room was cleaned and bedding changed every morning.   The pool was lovely but the surrounding area needed a bit of attention; the toilet by the pool was out of order and there was a poolside bar which looked like it would have been a great feature at one time - but not now.  None of this spoiled our lovely week and we would certainly book this hotel again.  There's nothing nicer than going to sleep listening to the sea and waking up to it in the morning.  We didn't pay a lot for the holiday but certainly didn't have any complaints   :)

Stayed at Hotel Unique in the harbour. Boutique room with two separate verandas and a hot tub. Everything about the hotel was superb, service, room and amenities. Not cheap but as a treat it was well worth it.

We stopped at the AkkentGarden hotel, late August,it was fabulous, the room overlooked the large pool, room very tastefully decorated and the bathroom was beautiful, also very convenient for the dolmus, and a nice walk into Calis , with definitely stay here again but next time will book directly from the hotel rather than through a booking agency.
