This year would have been on 18th visit.  We missed last year and May this year and have rebooked our September visit for next year.  We miss the place, our many friends, the beautiful sea and country side and the wonderful people.

I have been monitoring the Turkish Covid rate for the last few months and was very happy to see that the rate of infection was steadily reducing week on week to just 8% of its original peak, That was until I looked at this.

Still...fingers crossed that we may all get to the place we love this year.

So Turkey didn't get off the Red list.
How depressing is this.
Love to know criteria used, if any one can throw any light on it, as India managed to go Amber & less than 1 month ago that's probably one of the last places you'd have wanted to visit.

I don’t think your being cynical Rana i think you’ve hit the nail on the head. I was speaking to a friend who lives in Calis two days ago and he asked me when i was coming over, i explained the reason and he laughed saying that calis was having tourists from Russia Germany France and other European countries, which beggars my thinking that anyone from many Europe countries can now holiday in Turkey, then go home and the next day be allowed into the UK providing they have had two vaccine jabs, I’m now pretty convinced our government have lost the plot.

Taken from gov.uk today .......... "If you travel from an amber list country but have been in a red list country in the 10 days before you arrive in England, you must follow rules for red list countries."

Whilst the number of cases in Turkey continues to increase (with a significant proportion being the Delta variant) and whilst the percentage of population that has been double jabbed remains relatively low I am sorry to say that Turkey will remain red for quite a while..................

Çalış was probably one of the safest places to be in recent months, but after Bayram and the influx of travellers it may well suffer soon.

Difficult to find any cause for optimism, no matter how hard I try.
