I'm back again on the Forum! (missed you all :-X)
I've just heard that the Angel Bar, just up the road from our villa, has been demolished. Does anyone know what will be replacing it? Such a shame - I loved that place :'(

I was told by a local that it was illegally built on Belediye land and that it will be turned into a childrens play park.

Welcome back Arty Mar, we missed you too !! and yes it is such a shame the Angel bar has gone, like you we have our villa just along the road and it was so nice and close to just pop in if we didnt have time to cook, dont know where we will go now !! >:(

Thanks for the info, Kevin! I feel very sorry for the lovely family that ran the place - hard to believe it was illegally built. Prior to the most recent ownership it was called 'The Escape Bar' and Murat used to run it. Last time I was there in May 2018 he was based in the cafe next to the Surf Cafe (I think also called Escape (+ some numbers). Maybe the family was conned when they took over.
Anyway, great shame for me and future holiday makers in that area as it was so handy and pleasant. At least a play area would be better than just another building(s).
I hope to go over in mid June this year - can't wait!

Went in a couple of times last summer. Slow service and not very friendly to be honest. Won't miss it but I do feel sorry for those affected.

Thanks all for welcome back. I'm fine but miss my darling OH every day. Today when doing some clearing out I came across an old 2012 diary of his full of his scribble of 'important' events day to day - so sad. Luckily I have a wonderful family and friends and my art also plays a big part of my life as always. When I go to Turkey later in the year, I plan to do another pebble mural. OH used to gather pebbles of various colours for me - no shortage!

Arty Mar,don't worry about where to go , Melodi Bar,think that's it name has opened almost opposite your front door, its over the Deniz Kent Site offices,there has been a thread on here about it and the owners.

I think I saw a post on FB that the Angel is reopening with (I think) new owners. Some sort of buffet place I think.

Yes they have moved from just outside Telmessos. Lovely couple. I hope it works out for them. Sunday lunch is very good. Bookings advised ;-)
