I was told today Turkey is looking to change their law 5199 over the welfare of street dogs. Seems they are going to introduce "natural parks" for stray dogs instead of the neuter and return to street arrangement. Does anyone know about this and where more information can be obtained?

Natural Parks? :-\

This was in the pipeline a few years ago and several of us in Fethiye did a silent ' protest ' walk with people from Haydos...bit like a Turkish rspca.
The same was done at the same time in many cities across Turkey and there was a lot of press coverage.
The concept was to round them up and put them out of sight. Out of mind. Horrific.
As far as Im aware the idea was then dismissed and not included in the updated 5199.
I sincerely hope this isnt rearing its ugly head again.
Haydos website is the best source of information.

Thanks for info. Yes it seems Turkish parliament are trying to reintroduce changes again. But trying to do it without any publicity.

The idea was to round up all street camps and enclose them in forest areas. With no food these dogs would fight and die an agonizing death of starvation...........

Will keep an eye out Andrew. Sadly our local Haydos rep has moved away but I will message her and ask her to keep us updated.

Thanks please spread the word. We bought a street dog [Daisy] home to the UK with us 3 years ago, she has a wonderful life. But only one out of so many!
