Title: Grapes/Vines in Uzumlu?
Post by: screamlead on August 19, 2011, 11:35:20 AM
Anyone of you grow grapes out there or have decent wine producing grapes at all?
We lost all our crops down this neck of the woods this year to what the locals are saying was acid rain? One or two i think saved theirs by spraying with something but no idea what it was?.
I'm looking for a decent black and white grape cutting end of growing season to cultivate if possible.
I have succesfully grown on 4 red cuttings this year which will be ready for main planting later.
Would be willing to swap for a 'real' Key Lime tree growing - i have about 6 doing really well grown from seeds i got from malaysia.
Thanks
Dave

Spray with clean water after acid rain, I have been told, how do you know when the rain contains acid?

Dave,I'd be interested in a Key Lime if you want to sell as well. Our grapes have had a bad year here in Uzumlu, 2nd year running, and judging by the Uzumlu wine I think you'd be better going to grape specialist if you want to make good quality wine

Lol - thanks for the replies peeps. I think we all got zapped by this acid rain then - mine seem to do ok every 2 years - last year i got over 100 ltr of grape juice this year zilch! I have 2 massive white vines that reach to the roof and they are both different varieties ones round and the other oblong grapes but they made 22% wine!! lol
As for the key lime i dont want to really sell the ones i have at the moment - they are only a year old and i know no-one has them over here. So, i have more seeds, so i will start some more off shortly once it cools a bit and i will offer those for sale next year.
