Update Report
Since the group got together in Uzumlu in February this year and threw some random ideas around - we are now an established group in the village known as Uzumlu Ladies Group and are happy to report our success on our charity fund raising activities.
We will be shortly be breaking for the summer to re-start in Sept/Oct and we would welcome new members on board.
Our achievements to-date are:
1. Information website for Uzumlu is now up and running with
local business paying for a page advert
http:// www.uzumlu-voice.com2. Monthly newsletter.
3. Monthly stall at the Craft Fair held at the Winehouse.
4. Monthly charity fun quiz at Cadiana.
5. Treasure Hunt.
6. Collection of eye reading glasses that the local clinic keeps
and hands out to whoever needs them.
7. Designing and printing of Apron's and bags for sale as
souvenirs.
8. Summer BBQ to be held on 9th July - with some great raffle
prizes.
9. Our proudest project is the Mother & Baby room adjoined to the local clinic for which funds paid for: Electrics, Plastering, New flooring, Mosquito net for window and decorating.
Equipment has also now been bought for babies and children's use:
Examination Table / Stethoscope/Weighing Scales/Blood pressure kit/Ambu Breathing Equipment/Cupboard.
And as a community we should be very proud of this room as the request for the room came from the local Turkish Community and we have managed to do it for them.
For future projects we would certainly welcome any suggestions / ideas for where monies in the village could be put to good use.
Couple of our ideas for our next project have been for a Difibulator (re-starts the heart) as the emergency services here in Fethiye are only carriers and do not carry out any life saving procedures.
Update equipment for children's playground.
The monthly Cadianda quiz will take place this month on June 25th, and we thank everyone who has turned up and supported it, all comments / feedback has all been taken on board and discussed and this will continue to improve and will not be so drawn out - obviously at the start we were keen to make the night different and trying new things.
Thank you for all members for your contributions and may the good work continue and thank you Uzumlu for your support and may that continue to.
