Title: Andy Murray - Baffling Situation
Post by: Scunner on January 28, 2011, 22:32:25 PM
Try as I might, I simply cannot see how he is going to engineer a total failure this time?

I hope he wins because when we land in Melbourne on Monday how good would it be to have a Pom (OK Scottish Pom) hold the Aussie Open and the English cricketers hold the Ashes!

Last time we went to Oz we'd just won the Rugby World Cup so maybe - just maybe it's a good omen!

Aside from the fact that he is up against the third seed and third ranked man in the world.

Is losing in the Final of a Grand Slam a total failure ?. Is Kenny would say, maybe aye, maybe no.

Off topic but it was a pleasure to watch the Ladies Final that was played virtually without a grunt.

Much is often made of the weight of expectation on Andy Murray (and Tim Henman before him) to be the first Brit to win a Slam for 75 years. But I don't remember peolpe making so much of the fact that Serbia have never had a champion until Djokovic. That must have put pressure on the proud Serb.

Well done to him today not only for his play but also for his victory speech which was excellent :)

My daughter lives in Melbourne and went to 7 of the matches.
Mind you she must have been the only Scot there shouting for the Serb !
