You can't get residency renewal without health cover is my understanding if you are under 65

All of the above. Sorry just being flippant.

I see you are over 65 Lance so you have the option of "pay as you go". With an RP you will pay the same as a Turkish person who has no insurance, without RP you will pay tourist rates. Devlet is the cheapest option, doctors are fine and they do have the tech equipment i.e. CT and MRI, x-ray, ultra sound, blood testing etc. Translators are provided as well.

However the Devlet is a sh1t tip that I would avoid if at all possible after a couple of visits we had there last summer.
