Title: Nicotina
Post by: Old Daffodil on March 17, 2011, 16:59:32 PM
There is a lovely plant called Nicotina which grows quite a lot in Spain and France. It has lots of flowers in differing colours on the same bush and gives a lovely scent especially in the evenings.
I don't recall seeing it growing in Turkey and wonder if it would be able to cope with the climate.
Just thought I would mention it in case anyone has tried growing it in Turkey.

It's Nicotiana, or the Tobacco Plant. Very well known in Turkey.

It doesn't look like that but maybe it is the same family. The colours are mixed and it has a lovely scent. Like Night Scented Stock in England only bigger and more of a bush plant.

I found out in Spain what the plant is called, it is Nicotinia Alata, this grows into a two foot high bush and the scent is lovely. There is also Lady of the Night(Dama de Noche) which is night flowering Jasmine and this is the most highly scented plant in the world(it is also supposed to keep Mozzies away)Also called Cestrum Nocturnum.
They have a lovely scent but the Jasmine is quite strong so you do not need a lot of it.
