As it implies, vote for your favourite in Koca Calis.
-
I think you will find it's Suat's 1881.....oops
Nazar Garden is nearer for Stoops guess
-
Stoop's list said 1884 so I didn't change it.
Loks like another points reduction for him to deal with
-
I can`t vote in this poll.
I`ve only been to one of the aforementioned "restaurants" and that was Suat`s, it was absolute crap.
Crabbit

where is sandsbar???
-
coke a bloody challis:D ;)
-
Sands never actually opened as a restaurant - maybe next season.
-
yes that's true!! :)
but my favourite is sandsbar ;) :D
-
That would need a section for Best Koca Calis Bar.
Can someone else name them all please -lol
-
Sands bar did open a restaurant and I'm sure people used it, but it was short lived and will be open next summer as will the bar.
Mini-Sands as we call it (and Max says he will use that name next year) was open in the adjacent road leading up to the Alperin Otel. That too is planned to re-open next year.
-
Scun (Keith) as you have got the Pide Place in Ciftlik, you may want to include the popular Caretta Beach Restaurant/Bar around the bay in Kargi.
-
Tel,
It must have been very short lived as I know Max had paperwork problems which I thought actally scuppered things before he could open. From a recent post I think he is looking for a partner before he can go ahead next year.
I really hope it works out for him as we need more competition in that area.
-

Yes please do, we went there a lot - because it's remote, nice beach, friendly service, would get our vote...
-
We cycled to a bar which is at the very end of the road, on the beach where the next thing is the foresty looking trees. Went through the "built up" are of Koca Calis and on past the big rock which sticks out into the sea, past a residential area and on to what seemed to be the last port of call - a restaurant which had an area on the beach. What would it be called? It seemed as if the prices had doubled or trebled from last year to the year before, but it was lovely. They were offering to pick up in Callis. Does anyone recommend this for an evening out?
Sammy[?]
-
Sounds like karratas bar, when Suat and Helen owned it, it was a favourite of ours and a nice evening out, unfortunately they moved to 1861 bar (not good) didnt try it last year.
Tinx
-
tinx 1881 not 1861, 1881 the year the founding father was born.we still go to turtle beach bar, in the main because the beach is cleaner, until you get to the area where the turtle section sign then the beach has broken bear bottles etc.
-
it's beer bottles, they hold beer not bears etc.
-
could anyone tell me where ciftlik is
-
Carol,
If you are in Koca Calis then you need to take the main (block paved) road - walking away from the beach. When you get to the T-junction at the very top you will see a road on the other side. That is the road to the village and you can walk it in a few minutes. Be careful crossing here though - they drive fast on this road.
-
What's up there Stoop? I haven't explored that bit yet.

You mean you haven't been into Ciftlik?
For those who haven't been you can pay your council tax and water bill there. There is a market every Thursday and a few shops. Melissa Supermarket (crate of 24 500ml Efes for 42tyl), a hardware shop which stocks lots of - well - hardware. There is also a butchers - which is right next to the little Pide restaurant/cafe. Oh - and a cobblers :)
Worth the walk for the cheap Efes alone. They will deliver too.
:):P
-
We're in in Calis tomorrow Stoop I'll look it up - thanks for that - I know how daft is that when we are just around the corner!! :-\
Cheers:D
-
Also two metalwork fabricaters, two,at least, woodworking places,barbers.tailor/alteration shop hardware shop also sells electrical gear, all of these places have always been very fair pricewise when we have dealt with them.Oh and also Ali the gas man also sorts out your telephone installation problems!!! Just along the road in Kargi there is a bycycle repair man and Ali the gas man who also also sells new bikes. What a diverse village Ciftlik is becoming
-
dont forget the wonderful bakers, the bike shop & chemist to mention a few,
George is it the same Ali that used to have the water/gas shop nearer to melissa.
Ron
-
Nothing like keeping on the topic!!!
Ron I think George will say yes it is regarding Ali...and dont forget the Thursday market at Ciftlik...LOL
-
Sorry about the late reply,Ali the gas/telephone/bike/coalman is a little way further along the road past the first bottled gas seller. If you wander even further along just as you go over the brow of the hill into Kargi on the righthand side is a spit roast chicken place .and on the otherside of the road another pide house and, wait for it,a bar that actually sells cold Efes
-
That's my next wander sorted then!
-
our freinds always talk about melissa's she sells things you cannot get hold of anywhere else

Hi
Now sands open can you put place name there if possible kith. :-\
Thanks
-
Sorry, what would you like me to do?
-
I think he wants another poll Scunner. However as I have not been yet I for one couldn't possibly vote ;-)
-
Ah ok
I will start the 2008 Best polls at the end of the season, and make sure Sands is included in the Koca Calis one.
-
Thanks stoop exacly what I want
thanks keith :)
-
Gives me time to try it out then :P
-
How far is the Sands from Sunset Beach where we have bought an apartment.
-
Turn right out of the front gate and then walk past the Surf Cafe and around the bend. You will eventually reach a block paved part if the road. Walk right to the end of this and Sands is up there along with Liman, The Birlik and Suat 1881.
-
Stoop often goes round the bend:D
When does the best bar 2008 start?
-
Thankyou stoop we will look forward to going there along with the others you mentioned.
-
stoop went to tespo yesterday two crates of efes 66ytl.
-

-

We haven't found a bar in Kargi, is it closed in winter?? There is a place with Efes signs outside but seems to be a Cay House. Can you give more specific location please. Also there are no bars in Ciftlik - does anyone know why this is ??
-
Because Ciflik was/is a small farming village not a tourist hot-spot.
-
Went to Sands bar yesterday a.m.(next door to Mutlu's), not sure if the same Sands as discussed before. Asked for coffee, they didn't have any and brought me tea which I didn't want. So asked for Fanta limon, they brought me the cheap portakal fizzy stuff (which, again, I didn't want) When I mentioned I'd asked for limon they said 'it's similar'!
Reason for naff service? it's only just opened.
Think I'll give it a miss
-
I'm sure Max will get his act together before we arrive next week ;-)
Seriously though - 'just opening' is not really an excuse for not having the basics on sale.
Come on Max :)

Ciftlik does not have a bar as such but if you go to eat at the little pide place they will walk down to the supermarket and get you a beer if you want one. In fact I seem to remember they did have a few in their fridge last time we ate there.
-
The Pide shop in Ciftlik is probably the best kept secret this is were you pay Turkish prices whatever the time of year.

...and us tight arses should know - eh Ron? ;):D
-
has anyone got any idea of the name of the road in ciftlik
we have been trying to find the pide place for 2 years now
we have tom tom which we can find places with thanks
we arrive on this sat
-
It's on the main road through Ciftlik. There are the Belediyesi buildings on the left and if you go past them you will see Melissa supermarket. The pide shop is about 2 or 3 doors along from there.
When I say main road I don't mean the bypass that was built a few years back but the original old road through the centre of the village. Coming from Calis you will need to turn right at the roundabout marked Ciftlik.
It's called Ataturk Blv

We have to say a big thank you to Helen & Ya Ya who run the, "Mosy Bar" in Koca Calis. We had such a wonderful welcome and quite a few boozy nights there watching the footie. Also they serve a Good range of snackes & also cater for parties. This is their 2nd year and they are improving it all the time. Well done both &, "Chok, Chok Guzel. See you next year.
