Oh no that's sad. Didn't he lose a lot of weight, and stop drinking?

He did an exhibition evening at the "Live and Let Live" pub in Landscove, Devon in the mid 80's.

There was no sign at all of the arrogance/cockiness that we'd seen on the tv.

He got there early, played some friendly games against the locals (gave us a chance and tried spectacular finishes - 3x double ten for a 60 finish) and had a pint or two whilst chatting with everyone there.

A thorough gentleman and very warm and welcoming to all who approached.

How sad that he died so young. His matches with Jocky Wilson were fantastic. I loved watching darts when characters like John Lowe, Cliff Lazaranko and Bobby George were playing.
