Post by: NIGCOUSKAZ on December 14, 2012, 21:25:06 PM
Hi

Would anyone have any recommendations on the best way to watch UK TV whilst in Turkey.  I will have Wifi and an iPad.  Exploring the Netflix option, but any other advice welcome.

Thanks in advance

Unless you have a VPN you will be barred from using your ipad for sites such as bbc iplayer, itv player and tv catchup, from Turkey  Which leaves you with filmon, but you,ll need to be in a wifi area.

Did you know that with bbc I player you can download programmes onto your iPad and watch them whenever you want within  30 days.

Apologies for being a bit thick - but what is a VPN and how do you get it.

Filmon works in turkey (without a VPN) last time I tried - quality is pretty good

No....it's free (there is also a pay option but not sure what you get for that)

Download the app here https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/filmon-live-tv-free/id576167616?mt=8

It's free to watch in standard definition or you can pay a monthly subscription and you get high definition plus some extra channels

I find TVcatchup a more consistent feed on any given wifi connection - but I'm pretty sure you would need a VPN over there for that.

Thanks Fran, I had assumed you would need wifi to watch on iPad after download.
Downloaded a few things yesterday and will enjoy watching them on the way to Antalya.

Yes Keith we need VPN for TV Catchup.
Filmon is pretty good most of the time, sometimes skips and repeats but I think our slow wifi connection is causing that problem.

The app Tvcatchup wil not work even with a VPN. They have a super software That detects and blocks VPN .

Don't forget there is a TV catchup website and a TVcatchup app - both work differently.
