I am suprised no one wants to comment on the link I put on regarding, if a visitor to the UK pays for a 2 year visa they can only stay in the country for 6 months out of 12, so in effect a 2 year visa is only valid for 1 year.

Also we don't have to queue up in the street in London with not even a guaranteed appointment to discuss whether or not we should get a visa, or to be told there will be no more interviews today and to queue up again tomorrow and try again.

I wrote to the British Consulate in Turkey re the high costs of resident permit fees for UK applicants in Turkey and they responded stating that it is NOT a recipocal agreement (as can be clearly seen in the posted UK permit fees) and that they do agree it is unfair on British residents in Turkey, however because it is domestic law they cannot do anything about it!:(
