Plans for the above are not finalised as yet but people will meet at Lee’s bar from 7pm on Tuesday.
There will be an auction for one of his jackets plus a few bits and pieces in order to raise enough to buy him a headstone.
So it's a simple request - would you like to contribute to the cost of a headstone for a man who raised tens of thousands of lira for the children and who provided such wonderful entertainment.
CBF members have a magnificent track record of stepping up to the plate when asked and it's hoped that this occassion will be no different.
Thanks for your time.
-
This man just gave, gave and gave again. Giving up valuable nights of his holiday to perform and please so many people who crammed in to see him.
But far more important, his efforts raised tons of lira for needy kids locally and he asked for literally nothing.
I’ll kick off with 200 lira to be dropped in next week.
This guy earned and deserves a headstone, get on with it, support us!!!
-
I'll donate the same in GBP's and hope that it drops to 4 Tl to the pound.
-
Scunner has kindly allowed me to collect all the donations.
So if you would like to contribute just let me know and I will message you the options.
Many thanks.
-
For those who want to contribute my paypal address is john.stephen@hotmail.co.uk
-
Here here well said S & H...I would like to donate via Paypal will do later when im on my own wifi...will also donate some in tl at the tribute night
-
I would hazzard a guess that the bar owners at the side of Lee's bar would be willing to make a contribution as they also made a lot of money from his appearances.. I don't know who you could get to ask them.
-
For those members who do not use paypal, I can provide my bank details OR my postal address for cash donations.
I well remember the large crowds that Stuart and Linda attracted on Rod Stewart Nights and I hope that many of those who enjoyed the free show will consider making a donation.
Many thanks.
-
Donated earlier via your paypal John hope it arrives ok
-
Safely received karennina - thank you so much.
Anyone else care to follow karennina's example ?
-

Very many thanks Rimms you are a gentleman.
Please thank Chris also.
-
My friend will be going on Tuesday night, will you be there H to pass on the donation to or who shall she give it too on the night.
I was also thinking it might be nice to do something like this every year in Stuart's honour, that way we could continue
raising money for the children's charity in Stuart's memory.
-
Hi Markar
Sadly, I will not be there.
Things are still being finalised but I am sure that someone will be organising the collection.
Please thank your friend for her donation.

-
I have donated to your paypal account John. :)

Things are more or less in place now for this event. The night will kick off at 7:30 pm (Turkey time)
Tomorrow night is a planned very much as a celebration of Stuart's life.
His wife Linda says that he wanted to go out with a bang and hopefully those fortunate enough to be there can fulfill his wish.
There are a number of items in the auction, whisky, chocolate and some of Rods personal stuff.
There will also be a donation bucket passed around which will be a straightforward request for people to make a cash donation towards the cost of a headstone for Stuart's grave.
Some videos of Rod performing at Lee’s Bar will be played and Lee has made a video tribute to the man he looked very much upon as family.
George Rimmer (of Soul Train 2 fame) will be in charge of the music and will do an all request show (he believes he has just about every song that Rod Stewart made) plus a selection of Stuart’s favourites.
It is everyone concerned with this wish that Lee's will be full tomorrow night so if you can pop along that would be splendid. It may be your last chance to give back to a man who gave and gave and gave again.
Many thanks for your time.
-
Tonight's the night.
Pop along if you can and raise a glass to the wonderful Stuart MacDonald and his wife Linda and raise some money for under privileged children in this memory.

I am just waiting to hear if that includes the auction monies.
as always going to be a "difficult" night for Linda, Lee and others but it seems to have gone exceptional well and was a fitting send off.
-
Glad all went well last night.
A great cause.
We are in the UK, otherwise we would have been there.
Sent a donation for the collection.

Legless and Pete123 propping up the bar too

I simply love that photo. :)

They did CBF proud by announcing to the packed audience how members had joined in with initiative and had smashed the target.
Everyone there last night salutes you ♥️

We were there last night and it was a great night.how linda got through it i dont know but she was ok today.
-
By common consent last night was a huge success especially given the time available to organise it (barely 3 days).
There is absolutely no doubt whatsoever that this success was in no small measure due to Mr George Rimmer (Rimms).
George offered his services very soon after Stuart passed away, even although he had “retired”.
But as the day of the event grow closer I know George worried as to how to get the “correct balance” and “to get things right for Linda”.
I wasn’t present last evening but by all the accounts I have received George got it absolutely right. I am not sure that anyone else in Calis could have done that.
George, everyone I speak to thinks that you (along with others) gave Stuart the send off he deserved and are very grateful to you. I know that Linda, Lee and Zyriha are.
Take a bow sir, take a bow.
And of course it was scunner who once again provided the platform and worked away in the background to ensure the success of the event.
And again, of course, CBF members (along with those from the other place) once again dug deep and contributed massively to the cause .
Thank you all.
-
Thank you so much CBF. You made my job so simple by raising our target before evening setting up last night. Now with your help, Linda’s wishes will come true and Stuart (Rod) will be remembered for eternity.

Did the 3c's also benifit from such a great night?
-
The 3C's are being fully consulted on that.
As I understand it nothing has been finaalised as yet.
-
Did the 3c's also benifit from such a great night?
I believe they benefited from seeing one of their greatest ever fundraisers being honoured
-
I can say with 100% certainty that all collected for this event will be used in conjunction with the wishes of Linda. So the answer is NO, 3Cs gain nothing from this night

Why would they ? This was for Stuart and Linda who did a lot for 3c in his lifetime.
-
Good evening, I would just like all of you to know the final total from last night's wonderful tribute to Stuart at Lee's Bar came to 3,411.50 TL plus 55 GBP.
George compiled a superb collection of Rod Stewart music, Caroline from 3C's gave a poignant and funny eulogy (after speaking to Linda) and Legless also spoke on behalf of CBF members.
A lovely video of some of Stuart's performances was shown, which was very moving.
I think I speak for everyone who attended, that this was a fitting way to say goodbye to a man who supported the 3C's for many years, enabling us to help many sick and disadvantaged local children.
We are so pleased to have been able to support this special evening, in memory of a special man who made a huge difference to children in this area which he and Linda love.
Thank you as always to CBF members for your support of the evening, and congratulations on the fantastic amount that you also raised.
Time and again you rally for good causes.
Thank you all
-
Thanks Cathy
You are correct, this ailing forum sparks into action and consistently delivers when someone calls for help - I'm proud of CBF and CBF members for that.
I'm proud also to have played a small part in this particular fund raising event although much of my input seemed to be reading fleetingly displayed messages from George (Rimms) and John (Highlander) appearing on my phone as I drove up and down Scotland. Rimms and Highlander did great jobs, both different and both largely unsung. Also Ron (Legless) who represented CBF at the event at Lee's.
I want to share with you all how the thought of this wonderful, giving man (who, incidentally, I have never met, nor has his appearances ever coincided with my visits) being left with no gravestone to commemorate his great contribution and stature, was simply too much to accept. I'm so glad Calis collectively came together to honour Stuart and give something back.
But more than that - in some strange way - with all that has happened, and all so quickly, I am most proud that we, CBF, also recognised and honoured Stuart MacDonald while he was with us, how lucky was that.
No, we're not Facebook, and thank f*ck for that.

Thanks to Stuart, and to all of you guys who made all this happen.
-
People continue to kindly send in donations even after the tribute night.
Just in case people have missed this and/or been away I will leave this open until Sunday evening and then transfer the money.
-
Could Paul and Mandy Grace please tell me their forum name
Apologies, Highlander! Had to register again and have just got the email.
-
No problem Paul -thank you for your kind donation
-
Many thanks to steveJ for a generous donation.
There are other CBF members who I want to thank so come own up. ;) ;) ;)

Posted this in the "wrong" thread.
It's Lee's video tribute to the man he considered as family.
Emotional stuff :( :( :(

Never met or saw Stuart But was obviously a popular well loved man. This is a great song and a lovely tribute from one friend to another.
-
Steve A - here's a short clip of Stuart giving it plenty for the kids.

-
Cheers John,so dead pretty goid
-
Would you care to rephrase that steve A - I'm assuming predictive text.
-
Oops ,yes John predictive and probably the most inappropriate predictive I’ve seen.Sorry for that.
I was trying to say how good he sounded
-
I think everyone knew what you meant Steve A and would admit that they've all been there. :)
A modern scourge is predictive text. :(
-
Right now im hopefully back online properly dont want to jinx things...
I was at the tribute night and what a lovely night it was albeit a very very sad one but just so poignant if Stuart could have seen it I reckon he would have been made up with everything, so a jolly well done to everyone...
John what a smashing thing to do re Stuarts jacket for Lee :) “he wears it well” ;)
The tribute video Lee has put together is simply lovely I cant get over the lyrics in Rod’s new song Farewell just how apt they are...
-
Karennina - thank you for your message and further donation. :)
-
It is so humbling hearing about the great work Stuart did for charity but please lets not forget all the other people who help out for various charities in the Fethiye area, and have done for years, they too deserve a round of applause. Long may they continue.
-
Welcome John like I say i got off lightly!😹
-
Stuart has just died.. I think he deserves all the tributes...No one is saying that other people don't deserve the applause. I think we all know how much good the other charities have done and continue to do..(although I never met anyone on our committee who wanted or needed the applause) This is
a special circumstance and on this sad occasion he deserves all of the attention that he is getting.. He also made money for the animal charities.. Let's not forget that he gave a lot of his holiday time to do this...He didn't have too.. x
-
Well said Mercury I was trying to think of the right words to say in response to Ally B’s post , i typed several things and deleted them all and just replied to John...exactly that Stuart has sadly died and like you say gave so much to so many 100% he deserves all the tributes and more
-
I am sure Ally B meant well by his post.
The last thing we need is to have a minor difference of opinion aired on this thread.
Ally B - you are correct about people who help out for various charities but I think we should keep this thread about Stuart.
-
There was no malice or deflection intended in my post. I have always had a great admiration for the work he and his wife did, but if some people think it is alright to look for something bad in simple post so be it.I feel sorry for them. Many apologies if I caused any offence,it was never intended that way.
-
it was never intended that way.
As I said, I'm sure it wasn't.
-
Steve J - your donation safely and gratefully received.
Many thanks
-
Neither did I.. I am sorry if it came across as a criticism..I knew Stuart and Linda well from the time they spent in Benidorm in The Winter..I was probably feeling a bit emotional..
