Title: Do you have to be Krul to be kind ?
Post by: Highlander on April 06, 2015, 13:24:23 PM

I found Tim Krul’s acknowledgement of Jermain Defoe’s wonder goal very refreshing and thought Thierry Henry and Jamie Carragher’s criticism was wrong

Sadly perhaps, I am old enough to remember this famous incident

imo its a pleasant change from one professional player to another of a quite magnificent strike instead of trying to get somebody sent off with their ott antics. nice gesture krul. some of YOUR fellow professionals take note.

Appreciation of a fellow professionals skill should be applauded. As well as the youtube clip shown here, Pele was on the receiving end of one of the greatest saves of all time, and acknowledged it too. Pundits have made too much of it.

Having said that, this is the opinion of a neutral here and I doubt whether the supporters attending a Tyne/Wear Derby will think the same.

I have never been able to convince myself fully that Eusebio's reaction was not so much to congratulating Stepney as to try and mitigate the fact that he didn't score when he surely should have.
