Title: Prices
Post by: daveG on January 21, 2018, 13:11:58 PM
Although price increases are in the pipeline, the only noticeable ones we have been affected with are Taxi rates and Kent cards/dolmush fares but to counter these an exchange rate locally, close to 5.20 has more than compensated.
Obviously at this time of year restaurants etc are looking for business (Calis in particular  always suffers)
Fethiye on the other hand, after the sun has shown it's hand, does have a buzz about it.

SGK has gone up by around 60tl a month and car tax by up to 25% depending on size and age. Fuel is jumping up daily.
Anything imported is expensive due to the exchange rate.
We're fostering a dog at the moment. 450tl ( some vets 600tl) for rabies blood test that was 250tl a couple of years ago.
Prices on restaurant menus have crept up too.

Still great value when cooking at home though and we haven't needed any heating on yet  :)

Given that the rate of inflation in December was 11.92% price rises are inevitable.  At least it was better than November which was a tad under 13%, a fourteen year high.

But don't worry, the wee man has things under control.  If in doubt about the economy or your popularity, start a war - you might not be able to put food on your table or afford to put petrol in your car, but hey ho you can cheer as hundreds of innocent Kurds are slaughtered in Afrin.
