Thomas Cook in Turkey!
« on: October 31, 2018, 20:38:09 PM »
Thomas Cook are to open 20 own brand hotels by the end of 2019 to include 3 in Turkey...

They are also removing 9 hotels (locations not specified) they said did not meet brand quality standards.

The reason I looked into this is because I just got a call from Doğan who was told by someone at Liberty Lykia who was at a meeting there today to expect 80% Russians next year at their hotel as TC was pulling out.

This I suspect is after the many cases of food poisoning at Liberty Lykia which led to hundreds of holiday makers being reallocated to other hotels towards the end of this season.

Amazing that Thomas Cook appear to be pointing the finger at hotels letting their good name down. The actual TC issue is that they all too often let the holidaying customers down with their shoddy standards and woeful customer service.

I think in the case of Liberty Lykia they have a point. It's not the first year at that hotel there have been problems.

There was another case locally, Legionnaires this time, at Sun City, a TUI hotel that was closed before the end of the season.

I fly with Thomas Cook every time and I can't say I've had any complaints.

We can only go by our experience but lately we have had four journeys with TC over a period of a month, which required assistance, which was given. We had to cancel our return leg of our journey for November and advised them of our circumstances (in June) They credited us with the meals and luggage for which we were grateful.

We flew out with TC this year and paid extra for their Premium/Economy Plus service, seats, meals, extra baggage, speedy boarding etc. Couldn't fault them really even though it was quite a bit more.

Flew back Jet2 as they had better flight times. I always find TC from Dalaman is a very late flight.

Me and a mate flew out with TC in September. Got extra leg room for nothing. Left 10 minutes late and arrived 20 minutes early.

On the way back got away with not paying for an extra rucksack stuffed with goodies for the grandkids and knitting wool for Mrs KKOB.

They are all about quantity rather than quality. On AI they generally strip the place of anything not bolted down :D
