Met up with a couple of great friends last night at Varil, it's new and is next to Merhaba restaurant.
We had already eaten, but they both chose different chicken meals that arrived on huge wooden planks and both said were delicious.
Other meals coming out looked and smelt amazing, really large portions and beautifully presented.
Garlic bread came with usual sauces, and a complimentary plate of fruit and four forks even though we hadn't had the main meal.
Popcorn was put on the table all evening, and 4 green minty shots came with the bill.
Customers can also use the hotel pool.
Apparently some of the staff are from the old 1881 in Koca, and some from Bahane bar. All very friendly and great service.
Really enjoyed this place, deserves to do well.

We went to Varil last night to see the wonderful Scott Jeffers who was superb as usual. The service and food were first class. It is nice to see a place really making an effort.

Scott will be playing at the Varil every Tuesday and Saturday for the next three or four weeks before he goes back to Arizona. Definitely worth seeing him if your are here. Certainly different from most of the entertainment you will see in the area.

Agrre with the comments. Meals are superb delicious & large portion ,reasonable prices and great staff & service. There is kids playground near the pool behind the restaurant . Also Otel called name ibrahimbey Otel.
Been there again Tuesday , was packed . Even people was standing on the street listening the Scott. He is amazing musician.
You should try to meals. You will not be dissapoint.

We saw him a few times during our recent stay and would recommend him absolutely. Brilliant atmosphere when he is performing. ;D

10 of us went to the varil bar last night. Had to go round the back where the pool was, as there was entertainment on next door as well as the varil. It took 2 hours to get our meals after we had ordered them. When it eventually came, it certainly wasn,t large portions, as well as fetching the peppercorn sauce for our steaks, after we had eaten them. Lets just say i wasnt impressed. On a positive note, Scott Jeffers was excellent.

They must know at the Varil that the restaurant next door has entertainment every Saturday night.So why would you book an act when it will clash?

They do know entertainment is on next door. That is why Scott Jeffers is playing round the pool on Saturday and at the front on Tuesday.

The guy who plays at the Merhaba on a Saturday night plays a good version of that jaunty fiddle tune The Devil Went Down To Georgia. With Gordon on his banjo and Scott on his fiddle I reckon it would make good duet.

We had a fabulous night last night with friends , great food and value for money, but Scott Jeffers was something else, a true musician and all round entertainer, if there is one place you go on your holidays this is it , this guy is special!

What a fantastic bar and restaurant this is! Great food and relaxed atmosphere.
Kadir and Seda are the most fantastic hosts and absolutely nothing is too much trouble.
We ate and drank there several times in June and definitely will be returning in October!

Yes.Scott is playing every tuesday and saturday from 20:30 to 00:00...Also G&G are playing on thursdays same hours.Thanks for your interest.

great post kadir. The foods always delicious in there. Never had bad meal.. Chicken or steak prevalence really you must try..wlldone varil bar

He's off to the Edinburgh music Festival in August so probably not...

He could be back to U.S. before September but thats not clear yet.we will announce the situation anyway

Is it the lady chef from 1881, her name was grenda, if it is her her food is pretty amazing!

First visit here this evening.
Garlic bread very slow in coming (in my opinion,not the present Mrs H).
Main courses (Steak Swedese and Chicken Cordon Blue) did however arrive shortly after.
Absolutely gorgeous. Perhaps the best meal I've had in Calis. Brenda thought her meal was excellent too.
Would highly recommend a visit.

We also had a great night here a few weeks back,the food was great,we had Mexican chicken.The wine was reasonable 45ytl for a litre .A great night and one of the best plates of food we had,topped off by Scott Jeffers entertaining.
