Cyprus 48 years ago

It's too cold to venture out today so I've been looking at old photo's. These were taken 48 years ago when I was stationed in Cyprus with the Royal Air Force. We camped on six mile beach near Kyrenia. We would put our tent on the beach at Easter and leave it there until October, we used it every weekend. We left the tent fully equiped and never lost a thing. This was long before the war that devided the island.

Nice photos Don,takes me back when I was with the UN forces in Nicosia,in the 1960s
 Used to go to Kyrenia for our weekend breaks ,lovely place then,
Went back there about 4 years ago changed quite a bit,but still nice holiday place,

Great old pictures.  The Simca takes me back, my Father had one of them.  Both my parents were in the R.A.F. that is how they met.  My Father was sent to Indian for 3 1/2 years and took many great photographs.

Jacqui, at the end of our tour in 1969 we drove the Simca home overland via Greece, Yugoslavia, Austria, Germany and Belgium.

We were very lucky we did accompanied tours to Singapore (62 to 65) as well as Cyprus. The 17 years we were married in the RAF we were never apart for more than three weeks, it was a wonderful life.
