Oh, one does, does one ?  How splendidly spiffing.  ;)

It's a good job we're not picky about spelling on here then, 'cos we'd be forever C&P-ing your work.  : :)

Well, all this chat has been very interesting (if not too academically challenging   ;).) However nobody has answered my original question as to whether or not is it ok to have those large birds kept in a small cage?

Or indeed; Hyperbole & a half see here: http://hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.co.uk/2010/06/this-is-why-ill-never-be-adult.html

Colloquially known as 'Boll*cks'  From Latin roots 'Hyperbole' 'Hyperbolic-ally' - 'bolic-ally' = 'Boll*cks' ie: 'Talking, Load of'

Nearly there TimJon!
However for an academic you did not read my post in its entirety. I asked for a definition in modern parlance.
Which means you should have substituted 16 and a half inches long for a foot and a half, the latin ped referring to the Roman measure of a foot, which was only 11 inches long.

The answer's the same as it was 5 pages ago, yes. Now, shall we move on to something less interesting? : :)

KKOB,

I beg to differ old chap, I have not, as yet, seen any attempt to answer my question more my than a comment from Jacqui Harvey that says she believes that peacocks should not be caged. Has nobody an informed opinion?

That is all I now ask.

I have no opinion on the peacocks, and the caging thereof.
