Title: Tips on what type of essential foodstuffs to buy
Post by: Linda on October 24, 2006, 09:19:12 AM
Hi it would be useful if anyone could provide tips on what types of essential foodstuffs to buy e.g. milk, butter etc. and what brands, Turkish names etc.

I am sure it is a process of trial and error, which many members have already gone through.

Many thanks

Linda  :)

Butter - Sutas Tereyagi Dogal Lezzet.

Marines Sade Hamsi - Natural Anchovies in various sauces.

Milk - "Sut" with a picture of a cow on it (not the UHT which is carton and plastic bottle).
Ayran - [?]

Which flour and fat do I have to buy to make a decent pastry. I can't keep bringing Mcdougalls pastry mix out with me. Someone is going to catch on that I am not making it myself!!! Anne

In Migros frozen section you can buy packs of mille feuilles made by Superfresh. Makes some very nice pastries. :)

I have also found Migros own brand Milfoy Hamuru pastry (in the freezer) to be very good. Off to make some pasties as we speak :D
