A decision is expected to be made today on whether women's boxing will be included in the 2012 Olympics in London.
It came came close to being included in the 2008 Games, but the move was blocked by the International Olympic Committee.
It was felt that the sport was not competitive in enough countries, which could lead to potentially dangerous mismatches.
Do we think it should be included or not and what are you general views on women knocking seven bells out of each other?

are handbags allowed?

I think women should be able to do whatever men do, if they choose to, assuming they want to.

So do you think it warrants inclusion as an Olympic sport?
-
Synchronised swimming does, so why not...
-
I think it should be included in the Olympics but the issue of mismatches is a serious one, we know that boxing is a dangerous sport even amongst participants of a similar standard so maybe it should be restricted to countries that meet a criteria set by the Olympics committee. When conutries reach that criteria then they can be included in the competition.
-
As with all Olympic boxing it will be with headguards and extra padded gloves and should definitely be included.
-
looks like it has been approved http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympic_games/8196879.stm

DAMN! i thought there was group starting up or something!! would love to give my turk a decent hiding: :)
-
I think it should be allowed to be an olympic sport. Women shouldn't be denied the right to do it when men can! There are a lot more 'extreme' fighting styles than boxing, I wouldn't fancy it myself though lol.

Good on yer Jenny, I guess you have already cut your nails to prevent breaking one? Meaning your a girly girl! ( Which is a compliment) ;)
-
Thanx JB ;)
Yeah the nails needed a bot of a trim, those boxing gloves (pink ofcourse) don't really go with long nails! I do get told off for fixing my hair during the workout though lol I just can't help it!
-

I heard Frank Warren talking about this on the radio the other day, and he said that head guards were only introduced for use during training because they actually add to the impact of a punch and shouldnt be used in a live fight. I'm all for womens boxing, in fact they should start a class in Calis, might put these perverts off grabbing people off the streets to rob and assault them. Womems boxing produces a higher technical ability than mens, apparently...which goes to prove that us women like to do things properly than just punching the living daylights out of each other! lol...
-
i could not watch them box, getting a punch on your boobs would be bl**dy painful, like getting kicked in the b*lls
-
pmsl....ouch!
