Absolutely nothing ! I feed the food in Turkey so much fresher and tastier.
-
Good quality cheeses and liquorice allsorts and salad cream and a big piece of pork I can roast
-
Mustard...
I brought over one of the tins of Coleman's mustard powder Brian, it lasted best part of a 2 years :D. When mixed with water it creates a mustard that would blow your socks off, way hotter than the Coleman's in jars. I used to mix in mayonnaise, just to keep it sensible, nobody should see a grown man cry :)

Erm, maybe it`s because the import duty may be a tad high. [8]

just responding to daffodils comment about tescos and it reminded me, when i was in H this year, i went into Azda as me and the fella were having dinner in the apartment for the night, and i noticed that Azda were selling Tescos own spag bol sauce! i cracked up and took a picture, then on closer inspections they had Tescos produce tucked away here there and everywhere in the shop! how do they do it!?

Lots of things are now more easily available albeit at a price.
BUT I still miss golden syrup, fresh double cream, licorice allsorts & terrys chocolate orange (well its nearly christmas)
Black Bishop cheddar, Barkham Blue. Parma ham,a nice boiled gammon oh the list goes on and I wish I hadnt started it.......
The fresh fruit and veg here ae infinitely superior though and I can see now why I have lost so many kilos being in Turkey.

I know this post is ancient, but in desperation, I found recipes on the net for marmalade, lemon curd and cornish pasties. Ingredients for both are available here, and they were DELICIOUS and easy :P I also miss soft white bread, so finally bought a bread maker from Kipa and I'm away laughing, albeit with butter and marmalade on my chin...

Have a look in the baking aisle at Kipa, they had almond, and rum essence yesterday, although I didn't notice any vanilla.alternatively use vanilla sugar in baking.I find homemade Italian sauces taste better, loads of recipes on the internet.

From the other side of the fence now, I don't miss much at all. I miss Iskender Kebap, Ocakbasi, Jerry's boat trip, and pide. I don't miss the weather (we're the only people here who love the rain) and I don't miss the wine:D
-

Me - 'Dock Pudding'! Real Ale and Pork Pies i can do here no problem. Think the pork shop in hisaranu/oviacik is doing PG Tips.
They have run out of Blackcurrant cordial - Britvic - as i got the last two bottles and he told me the supplier in Istanbul is no longer importing the stuff. Ah well at least i will have 20 ltr of Blackcurrant wine to go at.

Here in the UK I miss the Sunday Market, the fresh produce (tomatoes in Calis are just so much better) the weather, having breaskfast by the Mediteranian, our gardens and pool, dinner at the Sundial, lunch at the Uzumulu wine house, bike rides down the prom, the water taxi, Oztuklo in the fish market, the dolmus, our Turkish neighbours who constantly share their meals with us, the fresh bread, Turkish Lokantas, Katranchi, trying to get further up Saklikent, dinner by the river there, Calis sunsets, sugar beach but most of all, our great friends out there.
Now would I swap the above for cheddar cheese, pork and mustard ??????
