The introduction of the proposed Universal Health Insurance for residence permit holders in Turkey has been postponed.

Universal Health Insurance for residence permit holders in Turkey

Ministry of Health officials have stated verbally to the British Consular staff that implementation of the proposed compulsory health scheme has now been postponed until December 2012.

The Turkish parliament must now formally approve the the delay in implementation.

This is the second major rule change that has resulted in postponement this year. The changes to tourist visa rules were postponed after the consultates of several foreign countries became involved.

Oh what a suprise... ;)

Post by: col on October 05, 2010, 16:59:59 PM: Let's hope at the end of this, the govt here just leave the system as it is. IF we wish to purchase health insurance, leave it up to the individual or family to decide, or like the vast majority here (I would think)just pay for hospital treatment or needs etc, IF or when it's needed.
It seems to work for ex pats all over Turkey and from whatever country, and will probably keep most of them here and have no need to consider a move back, and many have voiced this opinion.
