Here is a link to the website to get your kimlik number and instructions on what to fill in.

https://tckimlik.nvi.gov.tr/

You need to click on the 4th blue box down.
Fill in your year of birth, then your residency number, then the security number & click on verify which is at the bottom left.
It should then came up with all your details.

I've tested the link and it works OK, good luck

When putting in your residency number, after the first 2 digits separate with a / not a -, it will not work otherwise.

Once we saw the number on the site, which was some 2 weeks after the jandarma visit, we were told that we had had to go to  our local  NUFUS office to actually register which we did.

Well I have just tried the link and followed instructions but unfortunatrely no luck - it tells me:

Aradiginiz kayit bulunamadi.

I have just received my residence permit and now trying to insure motorbike but am told that I need this Kimlik nymber

Is the Kimlik number different from my tax number(which I have)?

If so whereabouts do I now go and get the Kimlik nunmber?

Thanks for any help

If you have "just" received your residency you have possibly not been put on the system yet, therefore you need to go to the nufus office in Fethiye.

Well got there found a guy with good Eglish spoeaking but he says it will be 3 MONTHS before the Kimlik is given

Surely I have not to wait that long before I can insure bike???

Any suggestions please - can I not use the Resience Permit number during the interim?

I don't suppose my tax number is of any use ??

Anyone know an other insurance contact that I can use that will assist?

Surely if you have your Kimlik (residency, blue book) your are wanting a NUFUS number which is your population number to prove you are resident in the area you live. If you cant get it on line you do need to go back to the Council office and to room 2. You need your Kimlik(blue book) and possibly your passport. They can do it straight away. If you still have a problem ask the nice gentleman at the Passport Police office ,explain the problem, and he should be able to look it up for you if he is not busy.

Quackers
You say the 'council office room 2'
Is that the same building that Diverbaz directed me to - between the PTT and Penquin Cafe?
Thanks for your info
I will head back on Monday to continue
